I've never added it up, honestly. Shall we do a running total?

8 quarts of Mobile 1 0W-40 @ $5.95 plus tax = $50.93 (2 X a year Napa Auto has a sale and I buy 24)

MANN filter @ $8 no tax = $58.93 (bought a 12 pack of filters on amazon years ago)

Replacement aluminum crush washer (x) 2 @ .25 = $59.43 (Cayenne V8 has 2 drain plugs each with a washer that must be replaced and I bought 20+ from Sunset years ago)

Therefore, I spend $59.43 for an oil change.

Price difference between one shop change and one DIY oil change would pay for all the tools (not supplies, just tools) necessary to DIY for every oil change to infinity.

I was hesitated to having him do that since I doubted he did it ever, but when I was thinking somebody could DIY why couldn't this guy do at least he is a mechanic. Well. It works fine so far. It shouldn't be difficult should it?

Depends on how "difficult" is defined.

If "difficult" is a word used to describe the act of standing up in a canoe that is floating in the middle of a lake and then loosing your balance and falling into the lake because you're standing up in a canoe, then it's difficult.

I know you're just trying to get a reaction but I keep a old 5 gal. gas can in my garage for my used oil. All the parts stores (PEP Boys, Advance ect.) are required to have a used oil recycling container and I make good use of them. Don't make too much of a mess doing it either.

Mobil 1 is $50 for 12 qts at Costco or Wally World. $12-14 a filter at Advance auto. 15 minutes on your back once a year or so is fine by me (sounds like my ex!).

i think he was referring to the approx time he's on his back. It took me 30min the first time as i was studying everything. in the future the actuall portion on my back will be about 20mins. I estimate it will take me about 1hr from wheels up to wheels down. This includes 20 mins of letting the oil drip.

On a side note, if you have PDCC, you have to remove a small brace in order to access the filter housing.
