Default Exhaust System problem?

When I start my 2004 Cayenne S it sounds a bit like a Harley until the RPMs reduce after a few minutes of warm up. I was concerned about he engine so I opened the hood and heard nothing unusual, but when I stick my ear in the front right wheel well, I am getting closer to the source of the noise. it sounds like an exhaust issue.

I also have to drain the floor underneath the passenger footwell, know how to do that, but am wondering if any have had experience with this.

I have owned the same PIG since 2003, been through it all but still love it. Engine was replaced at 40k and I now have 150k on it.

Thanks for your help?

Thanks, could be the problem. The louder sound is on the front wheel well on passenger side. Appreciate your advice.

Is it hard to access?

Nope, get under there and grab the pipe and move it around a bit, see if you can see the split in the flex pipe. Pretty obvious if they are split. I tack welded the flex ppipe to seal the hole. Unfortunately the alternativeis to weld in a section of new flex pipe or order cats with flex pipe attached. Used they were $600 each and needed 2. this was the straw that broke the p!gs back and away it went.

Thanks, will do. There is only one side that seems cracked. Interesting that you tack welded the flex pipe to seal it.

I think I have the oldest orginal PIG owner on the boards, March 2003.

Yep, both flex pipes are cracked and beyond a weld. I am going to buy/used new cats with flex pipes attached.

Add the flex pipe issue to future problems of older cayennes. Mine has 110,000 miles on it and ten years of age before the pipes went.

Any opinions on new or used flex pipe/cat converter.
