Default D2 start is the norm? Only when....

Only when you park your pepper in a space nose forward? Everyday I back into my parking space at work for the lunchtime escape! When I leave the car accelerates out in D1. What? Everyday...I switch to M mode and do the drill. Anyone else experience this? So, is the D2 start norm?

The Tiptronic transmission will start in D1 when the engine is cold to help warm up the cats. Once it's warm, it starts in D2. If it's still warm from your drive to work, then it will most likely start in D2.

It's weird.. I keep seeing people mention that on the forums but mine always starts from D1 no matter whether the engine's warm or cold. Does it not do that in a V6 or something? I pretty ignorant about these things..

Neither of mine will ever start in D1 unless I use manual, tip or sport modes. I guess it never gets cold enough to force a D1 start in auto.

I have the 2006 Base V6 and it starts in D1 on a cold start and D2 when the engine has been warmed up.

Hmm, maybe I've never gotten it sufficiently warmed up then. It _has_ been a cold winter in Canada :P
