Default 2013 CD - Chrome badging corrosion in 8 months

Hey guys - what do you think of this? I live in a prairie city. It has been a rough winter. The "PORSCHE cayenne" lettering on the hatch is corroding, but the diesel lettering on the front fenders on both sides is fine.

Try some detailing clay bar.

Remove the badging. Car looks cleaner, you're not a free Porsche billboard and the corrosion is gone.

That looks like the work of something corrosive - salt maybe? Do they salt the roads in the winter there?

Ouch!

SUV's love tossing all the road crud on the rear hatch!

If it is just surface, try rubbing it with a polish compound, and it may "buff right out". If it is etched in or pitted, I would say they should change them under warrenty.

Touchless car washes can also be hard on trims, as they use very corrosive detergents.

Will take a closer look at mine, next time I wash the car!!!

Yes they do. I gather this is a result of the spray pattern up on the hatch, as Steve mentions, as the front fender lettering looks fine. I'll try to buff it but am not optimistic and am feeling at this point like it's a warranty-type issue at this point.

Wow, at lease the paint is holding up, give everything a good clean and wax to prevent issues down the road.

Unacceptable. Get it replaced under warranty for sure. Looks like that emblem was improperly clear coated.

I have similar problem on my white Cayenne Diesel. The badge is not quite as bad as yours though. I was able to scrub it off with the brush at a local carwash (this carwash uses hog hair brush, so it doesn't scratch). I also had those rust dots you see on the paint there. Mine CD is about 5 months old. I didn't really wash the CD much. Because of the melting snow, the car gets dirty just driving a few blocks after a wash. for the first 4 months, I was only doing a quick spray to clean the car. The reason for this problem on the badge and paint is due to lack of washing. I recently notice this on my CD and took it to a detailing shop, they recommend clay bar. I was going to wait and do claybar once all the snow melt. A few weeks ago I try scrubbing it at the carwash, and some were coming off. As a result, I am washing my car every weeks now regardless of the weather and road condition. Lots of scrubbing.

Try using lots of soap on a mitten or cloth and scrub an area on the batch to see if it is coming off.

Like I said, try detailing clay first. You would be pleasantly surprised.

You can use Mequiars Spot X remover for the brown dots on the paint. Only need to use a small amount.

Looked very carefully at my Porsche badge (2013 Cayenne) on the hatch after washing it today, and it is pristine - like brand new.

And my car has basically been encrusted in salt all winter ... and hardly washed once a month, since it would basically be encrusted again the next day!

Seriously guys, this is a new car. I have cars that her similar badges that have endured 5-7 years of North East winters without looking anything like this. Why would you try to fix it? It's obviously a product defect.

Ditto. Even VW's badges are pristine but the brown spots are typical after the winter. Easy to remove.
