Angry 2003 Cayenne S needs new front Diff / Differential

Hi,

I am new here and have an 2003 4.5 s Cayenne and just learnt that the front diff needs replacing due to clunking noise coming from the front right (driver side) porsche dealer has confirmed this and want mega ££££ to replace not too happy at all my car has done 90000 miles. Surely a diff should last longer but Porsche has put it down to wear and tear!

I'm trying to look for a used one can anyone tell me what part no it is as there is one on ebay with part no DRM 99035 4460310021 which is stamped onto the diff, also there is a part no 4460310020, I understand it is important to get the right one due to different gear ratios can anyone please help me as my Diff is still on the car so cant compare and porsche dealers have a different part nos altogether.
Is it possible for someone to rebuild my diff I'm from the B'ham area or is it easier just to replace.

Any help Appreciated

Thanks

Too many Engine, Trans & Diff failures out there for a company that prides itself in Engineering. I don't blame the Engineering so much as the types of oils and the change intervals prescribed. Many companies have went to the fluid for life theme. I know the European Union pushes it and the EPA here in the states is on the bandwagon. I would do the Diffs and Trans on a Cayenne every 40K miles and the Engine at no more than 7~9K.
You may check out some of the Independent Porsche shops around and find if they can rebuild it or know of someone that can. They're probably a ZF unit that may be somewhat common with other models. Can anyone answer that question as ZF does rebuild some of their own stuff.

look for touareg diffs, they're all the same, just get the right gear ratio.
ZF won't sell u the part at all, my friend tried it and OEM agreements forbid them selling the parts directly under their own name.

and +1 on hahnmgh63's comment. change the oils frequently and you won't have any problems.

But how would I find out whether the diff is the right gear ratio for my car which is 4-1 as on eBay etc they don't advertise gear ratios in their ads And on the diff they don't say.

PM me your VIN and I'll take a look at what your diff part number is.
