Default Rear seat AC question

with this option, are there two complete and separate AC units or just a second evaporator?

Does this usually lead to more AC problems than its worth?

The 4 zone aircon system does use just the one compressor, 2 evaporators, 2 fans, additional temp and fan servos.
With more components there is a greater chance of one of them failing.
I have the 4 zone system, and I consider it a risk well worth taking.

FYI, you can't get it in the US-spec Cayenne Diesel. I wanted it, and still haven't been given a believable reason why it wasn't/isn't available. No Auto Stop/Start either, but I wouldn't miss that.

I too wanted it and the explanation I was given was that the AdBlue components use some of the same space. The option is available in markets that don't have AdBlue.

If I can ever get my hands on a cheap totaled 958 with the option I want to grab the parts to see if I can retrofit it. Way too expensive to add it with new parts.

Yeah, I heard that one too. And I'm not buying it. The 1st 4-zone I saw was on a Euro-spec CD, and the use AdBlue over there too.

With the diesels, is the area above the drivers side rear wheel open so that you can store things there or is it enclosed? If you have Bose, where did they located the amplifier?

On my CD the Bose subwoofer is on that side, occupying what would otherwise be an indented section to store small items. As the whole left side is vertical, it's probably fair to assume the amp is behind there too

On my V6, these components are located in the spare wheel well where you have your AdBlue tank. Not sure why they couldn't redesign them to fit on the passenger side instead of taking the space needed for the 4-zone blower and evaporator unit. Maybe in the facelift.
