I just check the dials behind the center armrest if I know someone sat back there recently.

The seats have occupation sensors in them that tells the on-board computer if someone is sitting on the seat and sends an "ENABLE" signal to the seat heater control.

Are you 100% sure? On mine I set the heat for my wife and when she sits down she says it's already hot.

Lower left side of the diagram. The computer suppose to tell the heater control unit if the seat is occupied.

Top left portion of TozoM8's diagram also shows the LED illuminated switch for the seat heater.

Usually anything shown in dashes (as the "Enabling seat heater" device is) in diagrams is optional or only used in certain markets. It isn't clear to me in that diagram where the occupancy sensor is linked into the seat heater control circuit.. is this device part of something else? Perhaps it's part of the "Onboard Computer Network Module"?

Any clarification would be wonderful (since mine AFAIK DOES heat up an unoccupied passenger seat.)

I'm not sure what you guys are smokin!

I just went out and took this picture in my 04 CTT. ALL the seat heater switches light up front and rear.

I have my dash lights set to the lowest setting and the gages are lit up quite brightly, I wonder if you have to turn the dash gages up higher to see the seat heated symbol?

My 08 Cayenne certainly didn’t detect people sat in the seats before turning on the heater. Passengers regularly left them on and the seats definitely headed up even when unoccupied.

The 958 design is much better.

What would be nice is the feature that’s in Mrs Ukayenne’s Mini - if you get in the car and put the seat heaters on it remembers that they are on for a few minutes even if the car is stopped and ignition off.

I stop on the way to work at the local shop to get a newspaper and then when I get back in the car the seat heater needs turning back on. It’s only a button press but it could be an easy nice little touch.

There are four weight recognition sensors connected to the weight recognition control unit.http://audipages.com/tozo/weight%20r...%20control.jpg
They will tell the on-board computer if someone occupies the seat and enables THAT airbag and seat heater. It is part of the CAN network

Wife definitely knows when I've turned her seat heater on before she gets in.
