Default First comes Coolant Pipes, then comes Driveshaft...

Anything else to expect on the horizon?

Original owner of a 2004 Cayenne S.

Coolant pipes failed a couple years ago. Dealer covered the majority of the repair eventhough it was out of warranty.

Driveshaft finally gave out last week. $1500 fix.

Ironically I was debating on getting a ~2010 Turbo, wondering if there are any other issues that are going to pop up soon on this "S"? These 2 seem to be main problems with these SUVs.

Coolant T's.. between the engine and firewall.. those randomly give out spewing out all your coolant.

Ignition Coils...

Fuel Pumps...

why not do the shaft yourself. Will cost you about $500 for all parts, half a day in time. I have a DIY on this site. Very easy. Save yourself $1200 (send me half of it though).

Wierd how they're random. I had a Mercedes that around 100k the main wiring harness would go out like clockwork.

I was in a hurry and needed it done the next day.

Dealer did it while I went to lunch so 1.5hrs. Not bad for a dealer. Seems as though they made all the extra $ on the part: Cardan shaft - $1258.

...lol...if you get enough of them done, you get a good rythm going and it becomes a routine maintenance then. Those who have not done it before should not expect to do it in such time.

Other common items that need maintenance/replacement include: water pump, fuel pump(s), ignition coils, PASM compressor pump and horns. I'm sure there are more.

My 2004 CS has been very reliable, but I'm having trouble now with interior and trim pieces. The sunglass holder/compartment is broken and it won't close. Fortunately it's closed now, and I won't open it again! My interior light above the mirror is shorted out (I know, there's a fix for it). My heated seat on the passengers side has stopped working. The little door on the rear consold in the back that covers the 12V socket is open, and it won't stay closed. None of this stuff is major, but it's annoying. One day I'll probably just take it to the dealer and ask them to fix it all...

My experience with my '05 CS has been...

Coolant pipes @ 75K
Transmission valve / plate @115K
Fuel pump @131K
Cardan shaft (NOW!) @ 135K

eats oil, brakes, tires.

But oh, I love her so!
