Default Best options to look for in a '06-07 Cayenne Turbo

Hello all, I am a longtime 911 owner and am seriously considering a 06-07 Cayenne Turbo. What are the best options to look for? My 2000 C4 996 Cab has nearly $40k in extra options (x-codes etc...)

I recognize that the Turbo already comes really loaded, but would like to know any options that others have that I should look for.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
TomF

Tom,

You should buy a Cayenne! Ours has been great.

FYI - there wasn't a 2007 model year Cayenne. They stopped production after the 2006 model and resumed with the facelifted 2008 car, aka the 957.

Cayennes are wonderful vehicles if they are properly maintained. As with any Porsche purchase, get a PPI and insist on service records. You want to make sure that common issues have been addressed, like coolant pipes, coils, etc.

The turbo does have many of the nice options as stock equipment. In 2006, Porsche offered a Turbo S version of the Cayenne, and it's really loaded with nice options. Among them you'll find more horsepower, bigger brakes, 20" wheels, body colored grilles, etc. It's a very nice truck.

Additional equipment that you can add to the standard turbo would include: upgraded wheels, panoramic roof, off-road package, trailer hitch, rear heated seats, four zone climate control and many more.

Have fun shopping!

Hi Dennis,

Great to catch up with a fellow 996er over here on the Cayenne board. Thanks for the information. We are just starting to look now and getting educated in the process.

Do you know if there is a listing of the available options/packages that were available in 2006? It would be helpful in our learning process.

Thanks!

Best,
TomF

All turbos are pretty nicely equiped. But some options will be full leather, various wood trims, interior lighting package, keyless entry, rear climate, backup camera, tow package, wheels.. There is also the 06 CTTS which has more power, big brakes, and upgraded suspension bits.

To, the Turbo S will not take an 18" rim if that is of concern to you.

I am assuming that is because of the rotor and caliper size? Not a problem, just more taxing to the pocketbook for snow tires.

Thanks,
TomF

Just curious, why aren't you including the 2005 CTT in your search?

Excellent question. I am actually not excluding it in my search, I am just looking for the newest that I can afford. I also like the CTTS and the panoramic roof that was available starting in 06. If a really nice 05 came across my path at a great price, I would certainly take a look!

I just purchased a 2006 Cayenne Turbo with 49K. It is Dark Olive Green with the supple leather and wood trim. In addition to being fully loaded, it has the panoramic roof option.

It is a great ride so far.

Not an option per se, but a Porsche CPO Warranty should be tops on your list!!
Thus far (2 months), the CPO warranty on my 06 has replaced the hatch and rear window struts, instrument panel, AC blower, and wobbly connector on a headlamp assembly. I'm guessing its about $4K worth. And I had a Panamera loaner.
