Cayenne V6 or Cayenne S, which is more trouble-free

Apologies for soliciting all the feedback but I think the point is moot for two reasons:
a) KBB is showing that the S doesn't come in a manual version and (for me), an automatic's not an option.
b) I opened the hood of my X's V6 and there's not a whole lot of room to work in there. Imagining a V8 in the same space would be too tight to perform most jobs.
The V6 it is!

then can I recommend a 2008 so it can get out of its own way. The facelifted (957) v6 has more power, direct injection, and variable valve timing and is almost as fast as the 955 v8. I honestly think the 955 v6's are too low on grunt for a 2.5 ton vehicle. BTW the gts (v8) can be found with manual.

I have long looked at/drooled over the GTS but that's going to be out of the budget. The only V6 I've driven is a 2005 and it is a bit underpowered so an '08 does make sense.
I thought about going ultra-economical and going with a Tiguan but as silly as this seems I do enjoy exchanging the waves w/the fellow P-drivers that I don't get with other brands.
The kbb on an 08 V6 is ~$30 so the search for a deal would commence circa spring when people are likely to trade theirs in after wintertime, perfect for my tailgating soiree's

958 v6, never had any problem with either of mine.. 18000 miles between them.. only problem was me having a rattle fixed back door but nobody else heard it but me/... engine/trans/etc perfect... would buy another in a heartbeat.
the v8 seems good as well. but VR6 is a long proven engine.

Crazy. I jack rabbit start and basically hoon the eff out of my S and still return 12. I would think with less drive train loss it would be better. Wonder what makes it so lousy. Do you think it needed coils or MAF?

8 mpg... 12 mpg, is there really a difference at that end of the scale?
This was a 2010 with maybe 1500 miles. Dealer demo, brand new.
My mechanic told me the GTS gets the worst mileage of any car in it's class, hands down. The motor is so high strung; it's getting force fed fuel at an astonishing rate. Unless you're hardly touching the go pedal, you will see 6-8 mpg. Retarded.

A GTS in normal mode has very similar consumption to an S. Sport Mode is another matter. You have a choice!

I've owned an 08 Cayenne v6 for the past two years and it's been a great car. I love the way it handles. I previously owned a 99 Lexus Rx300 and the Cayenne is way peppier and sportier. When I purchased the 08 Cayenne, there was also a 06 S model for the same price. The S model seemed to have more "power", but it also seemed heavier and did seem to have any more pep.
I also been told I have a rare model, my v6 has a manual transmission and although it may seem odd to have a SUV with stick shift, it's a blast to drive. The car is primarily driven by my wife, but I still enjoy it when I get a chance to drive it. The car has been very reliable.
