We have both and unless you plan to tow, the E63 wins hands down. Only problem is that E63 Wagons are very rare and tough to come by.
The E63 handles great in snow with winter tires.

Cole, I think you need to read a couple of our comments again. We were referencing a couple of the changes Porsche made between the 955 and the 957/958 that would specifically impact Freddy's stated use. I have a 955 and 2 dogs, it works well for my use but I doubt I'll be getting a 957/958 specifically because of those changes.
BTW, what brand of motorcycle carrier is that? I may be looking for one very shortly.

Not sure I agree with this. A lower cargo heigh means you don't have to lift it as far ( and in some cases not at all because it can be levered into the lower height)
I find loading my Eurovan or Audi S6 Avant pretty easy due to their low load heights.
Of course the adjustable load height of the Cayenne is nice !

But everyone is different.

I'm also 6'2" tall
I thought the 958 had more space, so why would it be worse for dogs?
I never use my rear opening hatch window fwiw.

I suppose it depends on how big your dog is, but the issue is that the space is cut off pretty bad at window height due to the slant o the rear seats and D pillar. You lose a lot of space due to those aesthetic features.
One dog is probably fine (sub Great Dane size anyway), but where my 3 had enough space for an hour in the back of the Escape I can't get all 3 in the back of the P!g without one of the rear seats being down.

Great post, Cole. Your series of pictures is basically how I plan to use my new-to-me 957!

Thanks. I just figure pictures always help.
The 957 is just a face lifted 955 as far as the body goes. Same interior, same chassis with different front fenders, bumpers.
958 was a complete redesign and I know its larger, just not sure what all the specs are.
....and the rear hitch carrier was a HF unit. Not awesome, but worked in a pinch to pick up a deal on a KLR650 too far from home to return with a trailer. I sold the hitch carrier later.

Pretty sure the 955/957 interior change was to the rear seats, they no longer folded flat for one thing. I remember discovering that at the dealer intro here in Nashville. 958 they did away with the pop open rear hatch glass and I use that all the time, both for the dogs and for Home Depot runs.

So...
Checked out a 2013 Cayenne S on Monday. Took it for a short spin (short on time) and was impressed by it's "smallness" on the road. It truly doesnt feel as large as it is. The interior was better than I remembered too (test had "standard" interior). One thing is certain, it drives beautifully and certainly doesnt lack horsepower.
The "boot" however doesnt have much usable space above the seats due to the rake of the rear window. For general stowage it's better than the Benz no doubt. This might be an issue for the pooch who doesnt ride in the car that often but when he does, thats his "home". It's not a disqualifier as the car does handle better than the Benz and frankly the horsepower delta (Porsche being less) doesnt concern me at all. We'll see. I'll keep you posted.

I had an escalade before my GTS. (Also a 458 and 991so don't feel sorry for me) but I think it suit your needs better than a . Cayenne. It isn't that fun to drive but for the difference you could buy an older 911.

Do you want to race an Aventador and win?
If so, get the new 2014 E63 Estate. With AWD, it does 0-60 in a bit over 3 seconds.
Tons of room... Personally, I think the E wagons are a little too big. I'd love a C63 Estate, but they don't bring those to the US.
You probably can't go wrong with either ride. I love my AMG.
