Has anyone experience with installing aftermarket backup cameras on any Cayenne. Units I see available do not appear to be high quality.
Thanks, JohnnyB

I did it not too long ago. I also have some pictures but don't know how to post so just pm me if interested. The hardest part of the install was removing the panels and running the cables to the rear hatch.

I think all PCM2.1 versions have the Video input. I have a '06 CTTS w/factory backup camera and the OEM camera failed but would still extend & retract. The OEM piece comes as a complete assembly for around $1500. WOW! I replaced just the camera itself with a $20 cheap Chinese Ebay camera and the picture is as good as OEM. CCD technology has come a long way in the last few years and gotten a lot cheaper. The OEM system uses a Fakra connector input to the PCM whereas most aftermarket cameras use an RCA video connector. I just found a RCA to Fakra adapter and it worked perfectly. An aftermarket back-up camera kit (probably partially replacing one license plate light) should come with an adapter cable.

Thank you very much,

Would someone write up a required parts list for installation onto a PCM 2.1 vehicle w/out a factory system please? I'm sure many of us would appreciate it.

or not and it wasn't obvious via the website, nor could I find
a separate listing.
But the price with wireless is very attractive.
Figure if it saves one bumper strike from the trailer -- it'll pay for itself in spades.

Here is a question. My '06 CTTS came with factory Nav. I replaced the PCM with a later PCM manufacture date 17/08 and I got back my Satellite Radio & Dash compass but the Rear vision camera didn't come back and I had to take it to the dealer to get them to code the PCM for the rear camera. If you add an aftermarket camera do you need to code the PCM to accept a Video signal? Seems like a Porsche scam to have the hardware but needing them to code the software individually to be able to use these features.
