Default 2005 CTT oil leak

Hi guys,

Anyone know what is causing my oil leak here? I have an oil leak at the drain plug. Prior to my oil changed it also have the same leak. I changed the oil two months ago and also changed the oil drain plug washer. Thought that might stopped it. Now it still leaking. Could it be the drain bolt is bad? Hate to take it to the dealer anyone experience this? Do extended warranty cover this problem? Thanks in advance.

Looks more like seepage than a leak. Did you torque the plug to the right specs? If you changed the washer out, not much else could be wrong here. Try re-torquing the plug.

I've seen the drain plugs crack and leak from being overtorqued, however, yours doesn't appear cracked. Be sure the torque is correct (37 ft/lbs).

Is there a steel insert in the pan or is it a Steel bolt into aluminum threads? If it is and insert then maybe the Helicoil / Timesert type of OEM insert is seeeping, if so then I think it would be much cheaper to live with it.

Thanks for the replied gentlement. I will re-torque the plug with 37 ft/lbs spec. @hahnmgh63- the bolt is a genuine Porsche oil drain plug with a crush washer.

If that doesn't do it I would inspect for a crack, Robert Bud had hair line crack on his drain plug that caused similar issue as you described.
