Tough decision. Anyone else faced with this one? 3.0TDI is in for a power bump in my14 too.

Thanks for the link. I've read most of them but missed that one. With 280kw and 850nms its no slouch but whether its going to see more use than what the V6 has on offer is anyones guess at this stage. I guess a test drive will give the true story there but these are an order only if you want to be in one by next june. The V6 is pretty strong though and quite a bit cheaper...

I too wait for the day I can personally compare the two, but it may be some years before the Diesel S reaches our shores. So until then I got a respectable hp and torque bump to my V6 by adding a BlueSpark tuning box. It's advertised to achieve up to 228/685, and with up to a 5% increase in fuel economy to boot. I've currently got mine adjusted to ~215/662, which returned 7.25 L/100km on a 170 klick trip yesterday

That's a very nice power bump. Who does that? I see Audi is fitting a TDI V6 with 220Kw and 650nms into their latest 2013 SUV so this can only mean the MY14 Cayenne will get that plus a bit more. Lead times are long enough as it is with V6's talking May del and V8's June. The wait is always painful...cant see myself holding out for MY14..

It was a trans-Atlantic purchase. BlueSpark is located in England.

We ordered in July, the forum was talking about the 4.2, but PCM was like Sargent Shultz 'I know nothing'! It would have meant waiting some time , which in the end would not have worried us, but then I would've also waited to see what the new RR was like.
The 3.0 does go very well, its like a big elastic band. The sport button does change the charcter a lot, a much bigger shove in the back. Even after 2000km [and so far only on our third tank of gas!] I haven't been able to go any where and see just how fast it will go, but I always feel i'm in licence losing territory.
I think the initial feel of the V6 is that it has a lot of initial speed, but foot to the floor it doesn't have a high end kick like a petrol car would, but by then your are already really travelling with speed.
My best economy so far is 7.3lt/100km.
If your in Melb, I found Danny Hasakis at PCM was excellent.

How does it work? Is it a re flash? If so how is it done. How much etc. Does the butt dyno feel much improvement over stock? The stock 3.0TDI felt pretty strong but felt like it lacked elasticity as the revs rise. Still good for a truck though.

No, in Sydney. Sounds like you're satisfied with the power and acceleration? My test drive left me satisfied but I'm wondering will that last. I keep coming back to that thumping V8 with 850 nms and that 5.6 0 to 100 and 3.5 sec 80 to 120. I do wonder will i ever need/use that in a truck...and if the extra $ are justified. I can get the TDIV6 a month earlier (May) or i can buy one ex stock in Jan but the options on that car are limited....so may probably wind up an order anyway. What options did you get? Do you have the Bose? Pasm?

Bose is prettty good for OEM, I am a car audio tragic - so its still not even close to my 928 system. Pano roof is just lovely, 4zone ai - the kids love this- great comfort improvement, 14 way comfort seats- the extra squab length is a big plus for my height,
tow bar, load management - fab to be able to secure items in the rear , LCA, heated front seats, xenons PDLS, roof rails, all in black,
No pasm or air, as we don't tow heavy loads, the ride is fine on the steel springs, saved $8k, fitted 20" Turbo II after market rims for the 'look', again this has cost just over $2k vs $12K,

I would've prefered Dk grey or the blue with the two tone leather interior, but the option costs get crazy.
Didn't want sport seats as my wife is shortish and they are hard to slide over. Maybe Ventilated seats, the a/c seats in a RR are very cool [pardon the pun] but I think these just suck air.If DAB radio is ever released & the juke box then they could be good. We both use a USB stick each for our own music, or i plug the iP5 and its reconisedas an ipod.

I agree as the revs rise its not as much fun as a NA petrol, but then you have the TT for that!

It works by increasing fuel pressure at the rail, and by increasing turbo boost. No flash required, outputs are user-adjustable, can actually be shut off while still in place, changes are completely reversible. It's a standalone tuning box with two cables; one for fuel pressure, one for boost. Each cable has two Porsche connectors - one male, one female - making it a simple plug and play operation. Took me less than 5 minutes to install it in my garage. But it took me another half hour to decide where to actually mount the box and subsequently route the excess cable. Prices are on their website, I got the Pro+Boost model for the US-spec diesel (240hp/406ft-lb).

The only thing that could make it better would be remote control. As designed, I have to stop the car->open the engine bay->open the box->make an adjustment->close box->close engine bay -- before I can test drive one of the 9 variable output settings (or turn it off)

Blazing - do you have any pictures of your Cayenne with the aftermarket wheels? I think I will order the same ones but haven't seen them on a real car yet. Thanks

Thanks for the link. Looks like the V8 diesel will be the new king. In our money that's 30K extra over the V6. That's the main bit i'm struggling with....and will i get the value out of all that extra power. Damn it, looks like I'm going to have to buy one.

I imagine this one has the MY14 Cayennes next 3.0 TDI although Porsche may well give it a bit extra over the Audi.

5.1 to the 100 is fast.

Carcam; sorry been on our first road trip in the Cd, some pics to come.

see
https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...thread-18.html

post 260, pg 18, is our car.

i have also ordered another set from ECS Tuning, the Alzor brand, as they are a better colour than ours which are a very blue grey. I will eventually respray the others and keep them for winter & dirt roads, while fitting quieter tyres [Parada X ??] to the new rims.
