Default Cayenne Brake Pad Retaining Pin

OK...I've done full brake jobs on my M3 and 911SC, but this is killing me.

I've read the discussions on changing the brake pads, which should be an easy thing. However, I can't get the bloody retaining pin out. What I've done:

1) Loosened the bolt on the back and repeatedly hit it to try to start the pin moving.

2) Bent the spring plate out of the way to release pressure (I'm replacing it anyhow).

3) Sprayed several kilotons of PB Blaster.

HELP!

Is there a trick to getting these out?

Did this move it at all? That's usually how I get them started. By that point the flange at the other end of the pin is just far enough away to get a small pry bar/chisel under it and tap it out with a hammer. It usually only takes one or two taps before it's loose enough to pull out by hand.
If the pin isn't moving at all, maybe try hitting the bolt harder.

Nope. Not even budging. Like you said, I was assuming it would pop, and then I could pry it.

Any advice on how to knock through the second part of the pin? This barbell shape is nuts! I miss the tapered pin from my SC - pull the cotter, and knock it out with one tap.

Not sure this will help out. But might be a good reference. I have been watching it to get ready to change my rotors and pads.

@ Basnasn

I like that hanger bolt. The lug bolt style of hubs that Germans use drive me nuts, and that's a great idea.

@ Mudman

I'll pick up a heat gun and try - after letting the Blaster evaporate, natch. Thanks for the idea.

There should be one in the back of your Cayenne, near the spare tire. You can order extras as well. They are only about $10. I have 4 of them, so I can do more than one wheel at a time.

Hmm. Seems to be missing, but I can make one. And the answer to my problem was, as usual, a bigger hammer.

Ain't that just like life? Every problem just needs a 4.5 lb engineer's hammer.

Thanks, all.
