Extended Warranty or Not?
Well I am needing your professional opinions based on my situation. I am picking up an 2005 CTT with 64k miles. Already has updated cooling pipes and replaced cardan shaft.
Mercury Mechanical Breakdown which I have used before is offering me two different packages. I can do their Platinum 24month 24000 miles for $3458 or GOLD 48 months 48000 Miles for $4676.
With that being said I think the main major issues have been fixed. I think everything else is little stuff. Do you guys think I should get the warranty?

The other main issues that you might see is are valve body failure or torque converter seal leakage. Neither of those will cost you $3500. Together, they might come close. I'd just put some money in a savings account instead.

Steer clear of Mercury, I had them on my 04, $4K down the toilet they would not cover anything. Did not hurt to much tho, long story PCNA paid for it haha.
The expected costs IMHO will be, 1 front strut, $800ish, 1 Fuel Pump, another $800. Coils and brakes
They will deny strut, they will deny fuel pump, they will deny coils and brakes
Put the money in a separate war chest account and take the risk.

I bought an extended warranty from my Porsche dealer when I bought my Cayenne. It extended my coverage to 8 years or 80,000 miles. I never used it. Not once. It was a waste of money. I think you know my feeling on aftermarket warranties!

OMG you guys won't believe this. I called Fidelity Extended Warranty which is a partner with the Porsche Dealer.
They quoted me $9100 for 3 years 36k miles or $12000 4 years 48k miles
