The auto-lock never happened before. Not sure where that came from....unless it is associated with my second key and not the primary.

Now that new fob is actin' weird. Must be a bad battery or sketchy connection in the fob......and I swear the auto lock was not on usually. It must be a user setting tied to the fob.

It is a factory setting, you never had it working before because of the faulty keyfob.

What faulty key fob? I only swapped the internals into a new housing.

I meant bad battery contact. I had the same problem and when I bought a new keyfob, swapped the inside over everything worked. The remote, the buttons on the door handles, the touch of the handle and the auto re-lock if I did not open the door.

What year Cayenne do you have? Where did you get your fob and how did you swap?

Sounds like a car battery issue, not a key battery issue.

Does your car have dual batteries? (One under the drivers seat and one under the cargo floor) If its a dual battery Cayenne one battery starts the car and the other runs all the electronics, including the memory settings in the computer. So when this send s battery gets old and starts to die your car will still start and run fine but things like your keys stop working and memory settings reset to factory defaults.

These symptoms can also occur when a primary battery starts to get weak.

I have a single battery under my seat which is brand new, no issues. Would the main fob be an issue? I can lock / unlock for a bit with the NEW fob then it stops functioning, by which time the car has locked itself and I can't use the new fob to unlock. Go get main fob, unlock car, everything is fine, BUT auto lock does not engage. Car can sit for a week and stays unlocked. I believe the etting is set in the vehicle settings, and fob remembers. BOTH fobs acted this way. I never experienced this until I changed to a new key housing last week and swapped in the previous circuitboard. REMEMBER I have not glued the new fob halves together yet, they are held together by hand pressure only when I'm operating it. Maybe something happens when the circuit is lost from the battery disconnecting internally?

Tozo- Did you get a blank key and swap in or was it the way I did it?

I stand corrected, auto lock does work, however, new fob has stopped working. I even switched batteries with my existing fob and battery isn't the issue.

If you will STFF you will find that the proper resolution to your FOB issue is to throw it against the driver side door with at least several G's of force..... okay perhaps that is only in Alpha/Beta models.........

My new fob is completely useless although it lights up when you press the button!
