And do you swap the key or what? Got a DIY link or thread showing how? You probably need a spudger - which allows you to basically pop the plastic apart without destroying it. It is an electronics repair tool used to pry apart iPods or other snapfit plastic cases.

No dice.

That is what the product on E-bay implies. Use your key and your electronics and just change the case. I thought before I bought it I would try and get mine apart, but it's not popping open. I contacted the seller about opening it but haven't heard back.

Well I'm going to slice up a key today so I may want your shell...is it equal quality to a Porsche fob?

Oddly enough I just finished about 25 min ago. Postman delivered the empty new fob about an hour ago..
Here's what I did. I put the key in a vise longways and squeezed carefully. Porsche glues their key fobs together. The two halves popped apart under compression. I ordered the plain eBay fob with the useless center LOCK button. I then swapped in my old PCB, battery and entire key blade and reassembled. It works! You'll have to glue this key with a thin cyanocryolate glue like Krazy Glue so it gets between the mating surfaces and wont ooze. Wrap some rubber bands around it tightly to set the glue.
Mine worked right away and the buttons all execute 90% properly, as does the LED headlight on the fob, but I was squeezing the halves together with one hand and pushing the button with my free hand - and several times nothing happened with the Pig. I sort of reseated everything and it worked again. Not sure if that's the key or the Pig........I just want to be dead certain before gluing it up.
For $18 it's a damn good solution for a pristine key or a pristine backup key with no crest (which may be a good thing these days). I'll get a dealer key as a primary at some point unless I can transplant the crest and the performance is 100% reliable.

Thanks Tim. By the way, I just walked outside and tested it for the second time since my last post and it worked perfectly. I'd like to find an empty fob that has the proper buttons on it, i.e., just 2.

I just ordered a blank for my 2008 Cayenne from www.autotransponder.com. Price was 1/3 of what the dealer charged, but I still have to get it cut and programmed for my car. I'll let you know how it goes. The key they sent me looks to be an original porsche part with a sealed bag with a porsche sticker and part number etc.

Programming is supposed to be $150 and I don't know if they cut the keys or not..... My thought would be it's ordered by then and arrives precut and then they program there. If you have your original key you can easily swap in the cut key blade.

So my key still works, HOWEVER, the Pig has begun to lock itself. Usually I'll test the key: lock/unlock as its sitting on my workbench, ok cool it works. Then it won't respond any more and the PPig locks itself!
WTF?

If you don't open the door, it will re-lock it.
The battery doesn't have a god contact. I had this problem and after bending the terminals a bit and put a bit of dielectric grease on the terminals, no more problem.
