Default Pics of GTS OEM hitch?

Has anyone got a fairly close up picture of a GTS with hitch installed. I'm installing the OEM hitch and I understand the lower bumper fascia has to be trimmed. Supposedly there are markings of exactly where to trim but they are not all that obvious to me and the GTS bumper trim is a bit different from other models. A photo to reference would be great.

TIA,
Tom

Tom, Porsche has a bulletin (1/06 ENU 6690 6) with full instructions and photos on installing the OEM hitch on 2008+ M.Y. Cayenne. These instructions also cover the cutting areas of the bumper on the GTS & Turbo models equipped with the Sport package rear valence.

If you become a contributing member on www.renntech.org , you can download these instructions along with all the Cayenne-related TSB's for free.

You do know the trim markings are on the inside (non painted) portion of the bumper cover? IIRC there are several sets of markings (moldings really) under there.

Yes I'm on that page. It's the several sets of markings that make it a bit confusing along with the unusual shape of the GTS bumper cover.

Sold!

I have a copy of an older version of the 6690 6 bulletin (dated 6/04) but it obviously does not cover the GTS. The newer/appropriate bulletin would be very useful.

Thanks... Now back to the garage.

Awesome. That's perfect.

Did you do the install yourself or is this a factory hitch? The cut looks very clean. I'm wondering what is the best tool to make the cuts?

Thanks,
Tom

Dremel with a cut-off wheel, followed by a trimming tool works best on TPO polymers. Whenever possible, I would recommend cutting from the inside of the bumper cover in order to avoid wandering or hopping of the moto tool.

I have 2 varieties of cutoff wheels for a dremel. One toothed metal (intended for wood) and the other abrasive (intended for metal) hmmm... I suppose I can test and see which works better with the bumper cover.

What exactly do you mean by trimming tool? Also on a dremel?

Thanks,
Tom

I used the abrasive wheel on mine. It will melt the edges of the polymer slightly.

Dremel makes a cutoff wheel specifically for plastics. It's an abrasive wheel that avoids melting during the cutting process. It's part of their EZ-Lock line.

A hand v-trim tool is used to shave off "flash" or rough edges on finished plastic components. If you don't have one, you can use an x-acto knife but with extreme care not to gouge the plastic edges. http://www.hydetools.com/catalog/too...tip-knife-h212

Sorry, can't help you there - I had this done at the Porsche dealer.
