Just confirmed by my dealer, they will start replacing the analog clocks with sport chrono as soon as they have sufficient quantity of parts, latest 10/01.

Wait a second, a P!g delivered in Dec. of 2012 might be a MY 2014 vehicle?

I know that MY designations get screwed up sometimes but that's usually when new models come out in the middle of the year. That should not be the case here. Am I wrong?

No problem, I do the same thing when I try to chew gum and type at the same time.

sorry for the stupid question: what is the differnence between the analog clock and a sports chrono? Secondly will all future 2013s be made with the sport chrono instead of the analog clock? Thanks

I would guesse this is the new standard clock for 2013. They can't revert to no clock, after all their big "new feature for 2013" marketing. And they would have invested in fixing the original clock and using that for the recall, if they wanted to stick to it. This is just a logical assumption based on info in this thread, I don't know for sure.

BTW, here is a video of the functioning of the sports chrono. I guesse they will also have to enable those new screens in the display as part of the recall, if they want to change style of clock. That way we can do the reset ourselves whenever it stops working

Personally I think having a digital-clock/stopwatch hybrid with a giant second hand (and no hour/minute hand) - will break some of the simple elegance of having a nice big analog clock in your peripheral vision all the time.

Flaw with this whole assumption however: 1) They still list sport chrono as an extra charge option in the configurator. Would be a shame if people pay extra for what will be included by delivery date. 2) Chrono clock requires PCM option (for it to work) in configurator. Not sure how that will affect current CDR/clock owners with the problem like me. Perhaps this chain reaction will require instalation of PCM as part of the recall for me to get a reliable clock ... LOL wishfull thinking!!!

thanks Steve. Appreciate you taking the time to provide all this info. I will be ordering a V6 in Dec or Jan for a spring delivery. I am about to implode with the waiting. Full two tone Natural leather, Burm, Premium plus, roof rails, sound/thermal glass the works. Thanks again for your time. Doug

No problem, I relied on reading every word on these boards during my wait, in order to retain psychological sanity. Returning the favour torturing you guys with info is the least I can do

Wait till the dealer calls you saying they received the car, and it will take a week to do PDI and prep: thats when you will go through real implosion!!!

Wow, damn, you are going to have one of the highest msrp v6s around! Out of curiosity, why not opt for the v8 or even a 2010 preowned turbo? Just curious.

Well I happen to like the VR6 engine, yes it is a VW engine, but it does not burn oil, it has been a reliable powerplant for over 30 years and refined along the way. Agreed, not the most up to date technology or power, but I am not buying it for that reason. Reliability is key and I like the fact I can custom build the vehicle the way I like it, the finest quality materials with Porsche fit and finish. Lastly, the car is a head turner no matter what is under the hood.

lol, still damn...I think the reason I ordered my GTS was the exhaust noise. If I wanted the "whole package" i would have gone with the 09 Bentley 4 door I was offered for the same price! Either way, the new cayenne's are sweet.
