Had a lengthy conversation with the dealership this morning about the findings on this forum. He understood where I was coming from regarding the post about the gateway communication error and disconecting and reconnectiing the wiring harness. But, the dealership is still going with ordering a new one and installing that before performing any type of diagnostics. He also explained that they have not heard of any type of problems and would prefer to yank the clock and send that one back to Porsche. Hopefully something will eventually get resolved out of this. They have assured me that nothing will get scratched or damaged in the process, and if it would, it would be replaced. Still, I am a little nervous.

Not suprising that a dealership has heard of no problems. Unless they have affected customers they seem to be the last to know, even if a TSB is released, the forum guys know about it before the dealers get clued in.
Strange they would order a new clock, since I'm sure the clock itself is fine.

My 2011 C6M doesn't have a clock. I'm almost glad that it doesn't, but it is nice to be able to tell time without having to check my watch or fiddle with PCM while driving. Hope the repair/replacement goes smoothly for you.

Brought my Ct in and am having the GTS black exhaust tips installed as well as a software update
Asked my SA about the clock problem
He was aware of it and even told me they had received a notice about it
Clock is nice, but prefer the compass..which I find more useful

Ok so I brought my CTT in this AM to the dealer as I had purchased the Exclusive Aluminum shift ****, and wanted them to install it. Its abosolutely gorgeous by the way..Its an Exclusive option.
Anyway while there, they checked out the clock issue and after removing it from the dash dicovered the connector clip for the power source was never fully engaged to the clock.?
The clock is now working, and I will advise if it konks dead again.

Hmmm ... so the only two confirmed fixes involve plugging in the wire properly!
Could this all the fault of Herr Schwächefingern in Leipzig, who was on the "plug in the damn clock" assembly station, and handled all our cars in June!

Haha
Yes mine is a June build. Somebody on the line or herr robot needs a refresher course on how to install a plug type connection
Actually my SA was amazed at how relatively easy the fix was and how it could be possible that so many clocks are inoperative

And I am still waiting on the dealer to notify me that the replacement clock has arrived. So, if they install the new one, we will never know if it was a faulty install or a gateway communication error.

Hey RAKLAW, if you had done ED or been on the factory tour, you would probably have met the fellow or lady who installed your clock.
I was told the only robotic installation in the factory is the windscreen on the Panmera. It was the only robot I saw.
The work stations are pretty interesting, and possibly the clocks in question were installed in a 2 hour shift with a trainee worker??
With the QA being conducted, it is unusual to see something like this, but not impossible.
If you ever get a chance to go to the factories, do so! Great experience.
