I have some water spotting or etching from cleansers on my window and pillar trim pieces and want to give polishing a shot before I replace them. I guess I can also ignore them however. Has anyone successfully cleaned theirs up?

Yes, I used a super light polish with no cutting compound (It may have even been a wax). I'll check out the exact brand and type when I'm back home.
Miy trim pieces were also spotted, but came back like new after a quick light rub.

Beware of using any abrasive polish on the aluminum pieces. They are factory-anodized for corrosion resistance and any liquid containing harsh chemicals or abrasive materials may remove this protective coating.

I used "Mothers California Gold - Micro-polishing Glaze". It is a really light wax coat and does the job well. As per Andy's comment above, I would only use a ight coat, to avoid damaging the surface. It probably took me 5-10 minutes to do all my trim pieces.

collinite's no. 850 metal wax. made for marine and aeronautical use. I bought it at a marine/boating store. Works like a charm. I use it every once in a while.
