Default Check Brake Lights Indicator

The indicator light came on. I purchased new bulbs, swapped them out and the darned indicator light is still on. I've verified that all bulbs at the back of the vehicle work properly.

Any input?

Thanks.

What bulbs did you use? Silver based? Some german cars (BMWs especially) are sensitive to the type of bulb used.. and brass base ones often lead to spurious error lights.

Try cleaning the contact surfaces on the bulb receptacle. A (clean) pencil eraser can clean off any corrosion, give the computer a clear electrical signal and maybe clear the warning. I did that on my '04 CS when I was getting erroneous cornering light warnings and it did the trick. Probably would work on brake lights as well if the bulb is OK.
