Default Shopping for Cayenne Turbo, both '06 and '08 have same oil leak - normal?

I'm shopping for a used CTT for the wife (and, let's face it, me), and I've narrowed it down to two choices:

1) '06 with 58K, tow package, 21" twist wheels, luggage racks, rear cam, and side skirts in 8/10 condition for $30K, or

2) '08 with 22K, PDCC, 21" sport wheels, and rear seat entertainment in 9.5+/10 condition for $50K.

Both trucks have oil residue under the engine on the drivers side, pretty much the whole length of the block. There's no apparent dripping on the ground, judging by where they had been parked for an extended period.

Is that sort of leakage normal? Planning to get a PPI either way, but wondering if other owners see the same wetness in the same location.

I'd also appreciate opinions on my two choices, considering the significant price difference.

If anyone is selling a CTT or GTS in NorCal, give me a shout.

I just replaced 2ndry cats on a '08 GTS with 42k miles and it was dry as a bone. I actually commented to my friend that parts of the undercarriage looked new, I was shocked it looked so clean. My point...I don't think oil leaking is "normal".

My '04 with 106K miles has the same oil on the underside that you describe. My mechanic has suggested that my rear main seal has a very slight leak and needs to be replaced.

Driver's side oil seepage is very common on Turbos. It leaks out of the intercooler pipe on the driver's side. Normally it's relegated more towards the front of the engine.

That's a good reminder XR4Tim for everyone to pull their lower Intercooler pipes and drain them of any oil every couple of years. Turbo vehicles do pass more crankcase bypass and occaisonally some oil from the Turbo seals which will build up in the Intercoolers.

This is exactly what I have learned from research...

There is a pretty slick post somewhere (not this forum) where someone installed a catchcan to collect all the extra aspirated oil via additional tubing.

Turbos drink oil... and sneeze oil.
