Default Difference between years - 05, 06 and 08

I know there was a bigger change in the years of 06 to 08 but where there any significant changes between 2005 and 2006? Is there somewhere to go to look for this info? I am looking at a Cayenne Turbo S and knowing if there is anything significant between 2005 and 2006 would be nice.

There is no such thing as a 2005 Cayenne Turbo S. It came out near the end of the 2006 model year.

Porsche NA also did not release a 2008 Cayenne Turbo S - only a Cayenne Turbo for that year. The Cayenne Turbo S was resumed in 2009

Other than the fact that there was no 2005 Turbo S as mentioned above, there aren't any significant differences between 2005 and 2006 cars.

The 2005 is a Turbo and the 2006 is a Turbo S. Just looking for any differences between the 2005 and 2006 years. Sounds like minimal. It is the jump to 2008 that there are the changes.
The 2008's I am looking at are both GTS and Turbo's. I know the debate over the Turbo and GTS has gone on for some time so I am not bringing that up. Turbo for up here in the Mountains is likely the way to go for me.

Definitely get a turbo for the mountains. I have an S, and while it's no slouch getting up the hill, I'd love to have a turbo.

Was there a PCM change between '05 and '06?

Nope. The 2003 and 2004 cars use PCM 2.0. The 2005 and 2006 cars use PCM 2.1.

PCM2.1 started in '05 but the '06 PCM2.1 came with the phone button allowing you to use the Mobridge & Dension systems which really add a more modern touch to the Pigs. I had an '05 with a Panoramic Sunroof, the option code was: I3F Porsche large roof system. In '05 you could get the E81 performance package which was a $19900 options. I now have a '06 Turbo S and the only differences I can find is the Turbo S trim pieces, otherwise I think the rumours were true about just using up the E81 parts bins. Porsche claims another 20bhp for the Turbo S (520bhp) over the E81 but the ECU is the same part # and the Intercoolers are the same, larger than Standard Turbo, pieces as the E81's.

The 06 turbo S has bigger brakes and they cost much more to replace than the 05 turbo. and cayennes burn through brakes and tires.
