Post Cay-rappy name

I was initially disappointed about Porsche making an SUV, but after I accepted it, I thought, "Why the hell are they calling it Cayenne?" I think they should stick to numbers even though they're not sticking to sports cars.

Boxster is different because it describes the type of car it is. Also, you cannot put boxster on chicken to make it yummy.

while we are at it, let's also get rid of non-numerical nomenclature like Speedster, Cabriolet, Targa and Carrera, too (or is it 2?).

If you must know, before it was used to season such culinary delights as fried chicken, Cayenne was and still is a city in French Guiana, Africa - a city unfit for all but the most exceptional off-road vehicles. Thus, the reference.

I like the name, I like the vehicle. You, on the other hand, do not HAVE to. This is why we have vanilla and strawberry flavors. We all dont like the same. I am thankful for that.

well, maybe it iis also a name for a city. But Weidekind himself said that the name Cayanne was used because, "Like the Spice, This SUV is also very hot"......them thar is the quote.

I'm sorry that I don't like the name. I didn't mean to get all of your panties in a wad. I think, however, that those of you who disagree should reconsider your Porsche-infallibility mentality. When will you draw the line of what you still like; consider "Porsche Lightning," a smoothed-out station wagon, or "Porsche Caliente," a rocket-like minivan. I don't think Porsche would ever consider making a station wagon or a minivan, but if it did, how many of you would be saying, "for a minivan, that is definitely in a field of its own!" But truthfully, I don't care about them making an SUV. It is just salt (or some kind of pepper whose name escapes me at the moment) on the wound.

Actually, I have the Factory PSM (Panty Stability Management) System installed, so my panties (briefs dammit!) are worry free.

Personally, I'm sure they are fallible--who isn't? And while the name doesn't send me, it doesn't irritate me either.

Only time will tell if this is a smart marketing move--from Porsche's perspective. I wish Porsche well.

Cheers,
Chris

Chris,
The factory PSM system works great, but I upgraded to a custom system with titanium anti-wad fasteners (Devek, $400).

That's the thing about P-car parts. When it comes to price, we're always taking it in the shorts! <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" />

Someone on this board once suggested "Dakar". I thought that would have been the perfect name.
