Cay-rappy name
I was initially disappointed about Porsche making an SUV, but after I accepted it, I thought, "Why the hell are they calling it Cayenne?" I think they should stick to numbers even though they're not sticking to sports cars.

If you must know, before it was used to season such culinary delights as fried chicken, Cayenne was and still is a city in French Guiana, Africa - a city unfit for all but the most exceptional off-road vehicles. Thus, the reference.

I'm sorry that I don't like the name. I didn't mean to get all of your panties in a wad. I think, however, that those of you who disagree should reconsider your Porsche-infallibility mentality. When will you draw the line of what you still like; consider "Porsche Lightning," a smoothed-out station wagon, or "Porsche Caliente," a rocket-like minivan. I don't think Porsche would ever consider making a station wagon or a minivan, but if it did, how many of you would be saying, "for a minivan, that is definitely in a field of its own!" But truthfully, I don't care about them making an SUV. It is just salt (or some kind of pepper whose name escapes me at the moment) on the wound.

Actually, I have the Factory PSM (Panty Stability Management) System installed, so my panties (briefs dammit!) are worry free.

Personally, I'm sure they are fallible--who isn't? And while the name doesn't send me, it doesn't irritate me either.
Only time will tell if this is a smart marketing move--from Porsche's perspective. I wish Porsche well.
Cheers,
Chris
