So the engine is officially blown. Now I have a 2 stroke cayenne. Or hybrid (burns oil & gas), depends on how you look at it. Had to stop and my colleague had to bring me another car and limp the pig home.
it looks and sounds more like a burnt valve than piston rings/ scoring. Will post some vids later, can't upload anything to yt thru cell for some reason.

Well - at least it wasn't bore-scoring this time. Somehow this makes me think that it's not the best idea to try to get 680HP out of a 4.5L Cayenne engine - at least not from a longevity point of view.

These are brilliant - https://www.sidchrome.com.au/product...leak-test-kit/ just sniff in the coolant reservoir and it'll tell you if there's a leak even if you have no other symptoms. The smell though should give you a big clue though.
To me looking at the pics I reckon it's likely head gasket, especially if the coolant hasn't been the right type, mix ratio or the water wasn't de-ionised. I'd be taking the plugs out to see if there's any beads of water on them. Apologies if I'm teaching my granny to suck eggs.....

Good ol' IHI housings...
I think you could just use the Mitsubishi tdo4's from the 957 and probably be much better off. I have a feeling that some of your tuning woes came from stock actuators and hitting that 2550mb limit in the ecu tables. It's right around 22psi. From what I understand, when yhings you get close strange things start happening.
