Default 2006 cayenne s, regarding 2/4 wheel drive switch

Should any of the 2/4 wheel drive switch lights be on? Referring to the console area behind shift ****.

Umm.. they're not 2/4 wheel drive - it's full time 4WD with the option of locking the front/rear and a high-low range.

And no - none should be on normally. Pull the lever toward you several times and see if the lights go out (stopped, engine running, in neutral or park..)

No lights are on now or light up when I pull on the lever.....
Also, may have been in the "lock" position as I heard a "grinding" sound when I hit a dip at about 50 mph. Weird, disturbing sound only on the particular down hill dip. Any thoughts?

Doubt its anything to do with the switch position, which is only active, stopped and in neutral. I would suspect something else.
