Seriously, all dealers make mistakes, the good ones, that want to keep their customers, apologize for it and make it easy for you to do business with them. I never got so much as a sorry for the inconvience or any offer to pay for a tank of gas or a detail, etc. I don't know if it was due to my age or that I wasn't a pushy type of guy. I figured if they didn't want my business the two dealers in Cincy or my independent guy would be more than happy to take my money.

In the end your dealership still got the best of me because you sent me 7.5" rims from the 996 instead of the 8" versions. I figured enough time had gone by that it wasn't worth worrying about and just chalked it up to experience.

You (as a representative of the company) sure didn't even make a cursory attempt at an apology. I have a friend that bought a Boxster from Bluegrass after they had his 944 Turbo and couldn't fix the AC which was under warranty. I have a friend with a C4S that your dealership really messed up the alignment so badly he had his car towed to Cincy. Anir has out lined his problems as well. A lot of these issues have happened well after my incident.
I honestly wish I could be comfortable taking my car to your dealership. It is closer, near to my home office and my family has some history there. Ask Mr. Vine (not sure if he is even alive or not) or even his son if he remembers Sam Fishman.

The Carrera S's came std with the 17" cup wheels and the 18" hollow spokes where an option. The only car with the Turbo Look wheels were the Carrera 4S. I know it has been a while since you sold these but thought you would have remembered...

Youre right option 408 18" technology rims, I forgot all about them. Five model years of options ago, plus I'm getting old.

I would be happy to apologize for the techs scratching your wheels. Not that an apology from me means anything. You seem like you already have your mind made up.

Like I said earlier, I refrained from posting in this thread becuase I could be considered biased. It wanst my intent to proclaim our service department as perfect, by any stretch, I just wanted to offer some tips for developing a relationship with your dealer and service guys.

Peace

What struck me odd was you telling us how to develop that relationship when I did exactly the same as you suggested and I got nothing but hassle. My problem was my sales person left and went to another dealership, I had no advocate or person I could ask for help. Next time I guess I will need to be more aggresive. I am thinking of getting my wife a new Audi this fall, maybe Bluegrass can redeem itself.

You are right that most PCA members aren't going to be customers for the newest Porsche but one day they maybe. You also sell used cars, don't you? A used 993 is a dream car for many.

p-seller,

Greg's experience is reflective of what many of us 993, 986, and 996 owners have experienced at Bluegrass - many within the past year. So, it's not just the owners of older, outdated Porsches that avoid your dealership whenever possible. As I outlined above, I have suffered just as many problems with your Range Rover branch, as recently as last month. Honestly, you brought this upon yourself by proudly discussing your dealership's stellar track record.

Frankly, the tips that you and Doug offered for developing a good relationship with your dealer are just a bit naive. We're all adults and professionals here, and we don't need a primer on how to interact properly with the folks we meet in daily life. If being a well-treated customer at Bluegrass means that I have to brag about my latest $6 million settlement, bitch about my specific needs, or behave in a high-maintenance fashion, I'd prefer to take my business elsewhere.

In fact, my wife just dropped off my 993TT at Wright Tuning in Cincinnati this afternoon. They run the Schuitemaker/Zacharias 350Z effort in the Grand Am race series, and the owner, John, has cared for Larry Schumacher's race cars, including the GT1, for many years. I can promise you that they know how to perform a proper alignment and mount tires without tearing up the rims.

Don't be so naive. In many areas, literally 100% of all practicing ob-gyns, neurologists, and neurosurgeons have been sued. Think they're all bad docs? All "screwing up"?

Hahaha. Anir, you still coming after me. Well if it makes you feel any better, the $ 18,000,000 lawsuit is just one of 6 large class actions I have right now. I have one in the $ 150 million range against a life insurance company that should be wrapped up before the end of the year. Now that's something to brag about. Being nice and cultivating a relationship may be naive advice, but it is amazing how many people cannot do it.

GENTLEMEN... Gentleman, I think Bluegrass has been amply buried and P Seller tried his damnest to alleviate the bad memories and there is some value having large corps being concerned about class actions.

I have found the original thread very interesting - but most of the contributers are from KY. We're too deep to get any other areas of dealer service - good or bad.

I'm posting another topic.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - Dealer Service

Perhaps you would post for readers that dont go this deep. But please drop the dueling pistols, Thanks

Torags,
My point wasn't to drag Bluegrass through the mud. I would be honored to defend them if I could do so honestly. I think it was just a few comments that PS wrote that brought back some bad memories and I wanted to show him how a real life customer felt. Sorry for distrupting your post.

One last commment on the class action issue. You can bet the people that pay these huge settlements aren't the officers of the company but their customers when their fees are increase or their service decreased. There is no creation of money just a transfer of wealth. The only real winners in this type of suit are the lawyers. Witness the tobacco suits.

Next topic : Health Insurance!

Torags,

I'll stop trying to solve the inequities of the world on Rennlist. After all, we come here, and go to the track, to escape all that nonsense, right?

Have a great day, ya'll - Doug and p-seller included.

BTW, Greg, you spend too much time on Rennlist!

Greg...

Health insurance, now you're talkin'...

Say Anir... you're post was great. We shouldn't be too hard on P-Seller. Look at his post on "Be careful of this.." Unselfish, helpful and critical of some Cayenne things...

Anir, In 1997 I entered the restaurant business and use my legal background to keep my restaurants out of court. Which is a full time job all in itself, considering all the slip and fall case's filed. Not to mention the hostile work environment litigation attorney's are dreaming up. It's amazing how fast most of these case's go away when the plaintiff's attorney's find out I am self insured and defend each case myself at no cost to me and will go to trial on every single stinking one........ Doug we are critic's of your profession not you as a person. I believe that about two percent of all litigation filed has merit the rest drains the economy.....My next question is. How many of us are happy with our Porsche dealers? How many would state publicly on this board that they trust their Porsche dealer for service, sales and information?

Les,

Thank you for the interesting reply.

Greg, you're right. I have not found a way to surf Rennlist while performing surgery (er, I mean, "popping zits").

This is how I buy my toys and why I am buying the new 996 TT. 1/3 of $ 18,000,000 will buy some nice cars! Well, I don't think "Doug H" won too many friends with this tirade in this thread. I am reminded of the old joke: "What do you call 100 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean?" "A good start."
But is "Doug H" a real lawyer; is he even real at all?
Shouldn't a lawyer tend to be able to spell correctly "lemon" and "litigious" or is this the modern day equivalent of messy handwriting? (pardon my own poor grammar...)
I hope "Doug H" is nothing more than the figment of an adventurous and cheeky ten year old playing on his home computer and making fun of us old Porsche loons.
Isn't it plain irony that "Doug H" could be just "dough" as in a figment; something kneaded and manipulated but, as with any pretence, easily made conspicuouly false when questioned or prodded?
For example, one third of "$18,000,000.00" all written out with careful numeric punctuation might seem like a lot of money -- to a ten year old trying to impress strangers -- but it's inconsistent with the misspellings and monosyllabic vocabulary.
Isn't the cliche of "taking my boat to the lake house every weekend" just too trite and convenient?
After all, I really hope the "Doug H" depicted in "his" posts is in fact just plain dough for entertainment and simply does not exist.

I guess you will never know. Pretty unimportant in the grand scheme of things. I view it is light hearted fun. People to take the internet way too seriously. But if it makes you feel better about yourself to think I don't exist or to twist things, more power to you. I have to say I am most impressed with your grasp of the English language, your use of spell check and your ability to point out my flaws.

I heard that! doug. People do take this internet thing way to seriously. Dont let it bother you.

Greg...I wasnt trying to be "here" as a representative. Just a guy on the Cayenne board. I guess I opened myself up when I mentioned what we try to do to keep customers happy, but my intent is to hang out at rennlist as a guy who likes Cayenne. Not to represent. You were so quick to point out I didnt offer you an apology.....I'm here as myself, not my company. OK with you?

If you decide to try us again, I'll be here to help you. If not, I understand.

Funny note in my email this morning, from a doc in Ashland, KY looking for a 911. He says he makes 60,000 month before taxes.

Peace
