Post Quick Question for Cayenne Owners/Enthusiasts....

There are quite a few Cayenne owners now posting to this Forum - Welcome!!!!

Given the frequency of posts, comments and topics, I'm thinking of establishing a Cayenne "area" - with several Forums included such as "Road Reports" (ownership updates, pictures, service, PCNA/PAG specials/issues, etc.), perhaps an "Off-Road Forum" - where if you take yours 4-wheeling, or are involved with a Trek, you can share that experience with the rest of us... As well, of course - keeping this main Cayenne Forum intact.

As for me - I'm getting a little tired of reading all the debates as to "whether the Cayenne is "right or wrong"". It is already here (wake up and smell the coffee, folks).

So - in light of the new capabilities that the Cayenne delivers - what are your thoughts about these new Cayenne specific Forums? Are there any you would like to see in addition to, or instead of - the ones I mentioned above??

(Also - if you feel compelled to make some flippant post as a reply about expanding Rennlist's Cayenne Forum into an Area containing several Cayenne Forums - your post will be deleted.)

Thanks..!!!

John D, I think the "debate" is the best part of this forum. I don't see much need myself to expand the forum as this point, there just aren't that many active threads.

I agree, until there is real traffic, lets keep it one forum. Otherwise it might get spread too thin.

I do think you need to seperate the Infiniti FX45 and the Cayenne forums -- they seem to have merged!!! ;-)

Really, I have probelm with "debates" either - as long as they are current issues (debates as to the VW or the Porsche model differences, or debates on drivability, etc...) However - "debates" as to whether Porsche should have done the Cayenne is a little, ummm - "passe", since the Cayenne is here!!! Sort of like debating whether the US should go into Iraq - ummm, it's already "been done"

John D,
I participated in many of the "Cayenne: Good or bad debates?" I found them fun and interesting.

I do agree however that now that there are some real Cayenne owners that is forum, it be focus on their needs and what they want to talk about.

I come back every now and then just to see what is going on and what issues arise. Everyonce in a while I may post if I feel I can assist a fellow Pcar owner.

The main 944 is quite large and as you know has lots of traffic. I feel that it is quite good and there does not need to be sperate forums there. (what exisits is fine)
Therefore the single forum for Cayenne is just fine for right now. IF this forums starts seeing ALOT of volume then it MIGHT make sense.

Otherwise leave it as is.

John,

I think it would be great to have an area where we can discuss the everyday issue for those who actually own these cars. Topics such as aftermarket parts (wheels & tires, audio issues-XM or Sirius, other accessories), problems we have experienced and potential fixes (technical forum) would all be very helpful. It might even encourage more frequent posting by those who are owners but do not want to get involved in the "debates".

Hi All...

Thanks for the feedback - it's really appreciated.. Honestly, in reading the post by "EuroCarNut", I had more then a slight suspicion that Cayenne Owners and interested buyers couldn't find a place on the Internet as a haven (yet). As well - if I look at this Cayenne Forum, it is littered with previous debates and "attitudes" while discussing whether Porsche should even produce the Cayenne... Now - that being said - imagine yourself as a new Cayenne owner - posting back in this same forum... Hmmmm.. "Somewhat" daunting might be a fair assesment

So - over the past few days, in my spare time - I've been working on a concept that can give Cayenne owners, enthusiasts and interested folks a "safe" haven, while at the same time - continuing this Forum as the General interest Forum. I have a couple of ideas on how to execute from the technology end, so here is what I am thinking - a Portal for Cayenne enthusiasts which goes into some specialized Forums, that are a part of this Main Rennlist Forum - but only accessible from the Rennlist Cayenne Site... Sort of like this:

Beta Rennlist Site for the Cayenne...

While I still have to add content - it should give you a pretty good idea of what I mean...

Thanks again for your continued feedback!!!

Yeah, I have to admit that is probably a good idea. Maybe you can get Porsche to send some sponsorship dollars your way for it as well.

Now about the turbo portal...

I was about to say that you should wait a few more months but maybe the time is right. I am really interested to see how much interest there is in the Cayenne off-road. I plan to use mine that way but I am not seeing that much interest from others.

I thought that it would take a little longer as well - but in many private e-mails, most of the new Cayenne owners are discourged by the Internet sites. In reading most of the posts - I can understand why. So, I too think it may be early - but if I can deliver that area where new Cayenne owners can post without criticism - good for them. Honestly - I do not care if there is one post per day on that Forum, as long as folks feel welcomed. That - in short - is what Rennlist is all about...

Also - I too am very interested in the off-roading. I'm not a Cayenne owner, nor can I afford to be (my current Porsche's keep me broke as it is ) - but I've enjoyed off-roading - and believe that the Cayenne would be simply outstanding....

Thanks for your reply - and let's just do this, OK???!!

John D., I concur with EuroCarNut's post, the time for speculation on the Cayenne is now over since a number of the contributor's to the current forum are now driving them, it's time to explore real live information about owner experiences. Learning more about the Cayenne's capabilities, problems/fixes, what's going to come out in the aftermarket, and whether Porsche is ever going to make the accessories available is of true value to the Cayenne owner's community. Frankly, I have learned more about the Cayenne on this forum than I have learned from the dealer and parts department. Although there may only be about 1200+ US Cayenne's in circulation, there is a lot to be shared about this vehicle.

I joined Rennlist to learn and share about Porsche, specifically the Cayenne. Your proposal is an excellent evolution of this forum. I really love your Beta site, since that's my vehicle in the picture.

One final thought, I was beginning to lose my enthusiasm for this forum based on the constant debate, pimping of the FX45. My interest become keen again after reading of the sad experience that STIRS has had with his S, the issues that he has gone through. What brought me back full force was the terrific posts that accompanied STIRS experience, there are some terrific contributors on the Cayenne and their unselfish advice and counsel to STIRS is a reminder of the strength that a forum of this sort can provide.

You are on the right track and if I can vote here and vote often, I support what you have proposed. Thanks for taking the time to consider improving the Cayenne forum.
