Default Weird radio issue to add to the list...

So tonight I jumped in the CTT to run an errand and low and behold..no audio...didn't matter if it were AM/FM/CD....Drove 15 minutes..shut her down for 10 seconds...fired her up..and viola..We have music..

Should I just blame the electronic gremlins...I've read about amp replacements, stereo replacements, etc.

So after 2 months of ownership: ac drain plug clogged, leak detection pump replaced, front drivers pad/rotor needs inspected, causing squeal probably have to replace. Now radio issue.

Just imagine how "sorted" she'll be after 12 months!

That radio problem is something you will be best served just getting used to. Its not something you will be able to isolate and fix and it does not happen that often plus you know how to fix it.

Its something in the electronics startup routine, you do get used to it.

In about 3 yrs of ownership of my P!g I think it's done that 1 time. I must be lucky.

However the mObridge interface has been really hincky for the past few months.

You guys are great, always keeping me amused! Shes an 04,rather elderly I know. Has Bose. Running the original software most likely.

Glad to see this shouldn't be anything major.

I'm in boxers most of the time. Lol.

A sense of humor is required for P!g ownership.

Your problem should be very infrequent. It is caused by an error in the amplifier during the boot process (wake up) when the microprocessor loads the DSP's code. Occasionally, ther is a timing condition, the load fails and you get a no audio condition. There was a software update that helps, but is not a 100% fix.

Should this happen, stop the car, remove the key, exit the P!g, go buy a set of boxers and when you return, it will start normally. You have to wait for the MOST ring devices to go to sleep, which takes a couple of minutes.

Ive had this problem in my 04 w/ BOSE and all i have to do is turn the radio off and back on (without turning the car off). It has happened about maybe 4 times in the year and 1/2 ownership.

Brit- Looks like your gremlins aren't as powerful as mine. But thats good that all you have to do is push the power button.

Hi guys,

Going to jump on this thread since I have similar issues.

Audio is AWOL since my S came back from a rebuild (timing chain stretched more than a link.......)

It's an 04 Bose optioned S . the issue is no longer sporadic, it permanently has no audio. Display etc all work...just no sound

Any ideas? The rebuild took 5 months, could a jump have blown something in the circuit?

I'm the original owner, so running stock software. Any links as to where I can get the update and how I install it?

All input much appreciated!

P.S. after sinking all that money in the rebuild, the good news was that all eight cylinders returned a 0 on the leak down test. Mechs were stunned, as they were with the camera inspection of the cylinder walls. Immaculate!. At least we have that going for us... ;-)

maybe a vf engineering supercharger after all...lol

Given that your original, and you have not already had your Bose amp replaced, it could be that it just died. A lot of 04's had the amp die, some said it was a self destruct bug inserted by ltc.

Can you get it up on PIWIS somewhere ? there may be a useful code
