Default Hello! New Here! Need your help to understand my car better

Hi Everyone! I'm new here but I've been reading the forum for a while and find it very useful to learn about the car.

Just bought a CPO 09 Cayenne V6 and have been noticing weird noises so want to check in with you guys to see if it's normal and I just need to get used to them.

1. Engine whistle when cold
Interesting whistling noise coming from the engine when the car is not fully warmed up. I’ve posted a youtube video to demonstrate the sound.

2. “Clunk” when braking in reverse
When going in reverse, if I hit the brake (not lightly), I will hear a loud “clunk”. It sounded like I ran over something. Only happens the first time going in reverse.

3. Brake squeak at low speeed
At very low speed (1-10 m/h) I can hear loud squeaking noises coming from the brakes. No acceleration on the gas pedal so it’s when the car is rolling forward. It is more apparent when the car is rolling down the hill.

Hopefully you guys can give me some pointers.

Thanks in advance.

Well, these are hard to diagnose. I couldn't here the whistle. The clunk could be the control arm or list of other issues. More info is needed, how about forward, what speeds etc. The last one sounds like non oem pads. I would start by changing them.

1) They all do it, including the V6. Some say alternator and others say PS pump. Just a normal thing to expect on a Cayenne.
2) Normal. Brakes pads are shifting within the calipers onto the rotor. As working4it pointed out, you may be due for some fresh pads.
3) Light pedal pressure may result in brake squeal. Hose off your cold rotors and discs with a strong stream of water. This will buy you a few days until the noise starts to reappear. Again, check your pads for wear as this noise is usually more apparent as the pads are fairly worn.

Otherwise, enjoy your new ride!

Thanks for the inputs.

Sounds like the pads might need to be replaced. Funny how it's a CPO and I just bought the car 2 weeks ago. You would think the pads would be replaced within a certain level.
