Default Advice re: painting calipers

I have a 2006 Cayenne Titanium. Am going to have the calipers painted red tomorrow for $100 with caliper paint.

Now I just saw some plastic covers on eBay that convert the caliper to brembo. $60 plus need to install

I also saw someone else selling some kind of clear plastic adhesive, precut to exact size, to cover the caliper. $50 plus need to install

Please dont tell me not to make red. I want them red. I am just
Looking for any advice or thoughts regarding the various methods.

Appreciate any insight / feedback

I think the caliper covers and the plastic adhesive are bad ideas. If you want them red, that's fine - just do it right. Paint them red. There are many kits to paint them while still mounted on the vehicle, and you can also remove them and paint them that way. You can buy a Porsche decal to place on the newly painted caliper that looks like the OEM lettering from the factory.

If you're not up for doing the job yourself, here's a company that will do the job for you:

http://www.pcars.com/porsche_parts/s...ce/p_3005.html

I'm not affiliated with them in any way. There are lots of companies that do this.

In kinda had the same thoughts. Advantage of plastic cover is you can just remove it though...

A shiny new turbo badge on the rear would also suit the new red calipers.

Yes the .02% of the population that knows which color the calipers on a non-turbo cayenne are - they just snickered. The other 99.8% of humanity doesn't know or care.

I am not some crazy purist. I just like red calipers bc they spiff up the car.

I've seen these on Japanese autos. Don't do it, they look too cheap-your Porsche deserves better. The real thing or a paint job.

Don't do the covers!! My buddy has a Camero SS with the 4 piston Brembos and he thought it a good idea to put 6 piston look covers on the front. The right front came off at about 80mph while on the highway and jammed between the rotor and the outside pad and he cracked the car up to a tune of about $13,000. Not a good day.

Do the job right if your going to do it! It is a Porsche after all.

If you want the Brembo logo, just buy those decals instead of the Porsche logo decals.

Go all the way and paint them yellow
It would go well with grey
Not to mention you'd get a from .02% of the population
