Hey guys Im going to replace my Cardon shaft. Called vertex and they said I should buy this instead otherwise down the road will have to get another shaft eventually. Has anyone used this??? Its 200 dollars higher than just a rebuilt shaft for both parts that you need. Im assuming that its not the shaft itself that goes bad but just the center bearing support...is that correct??

I plan to use it on my touareg, sure its more than the shaft, but with labor if you do it yourself, seems a little cheaper.
Instead of getting the shaft you get the hole.
Look on youtube, they have install instructions.
Of course they will push this as they manufacture it, and probably have a higher profit margin on this part than the re-manufacturing of the cardan shafts.
Good for them for coming up with a solution.

I have seen one report where someone bought one, installed it - then got a rebuilt shaft and removed it. It transmitted more noise into the cabin. The other concern I have with it is - I "think" that many of the cardan shaft failures are actually failures of the bearing, which partly seizes up and puts stress on the rubber mount, causing it to tear. This does nothing for the bearing, you're counting on the one on your defective shaft being good. I wouldn't.. Especially when a rebuilt shaft is cheaper.

I have had a good look at the posts with regard to thus fix. It seems to address the symptom without addessing the cause....also it has been written that they create cabin noise? Hey, it may be a good item, but I'm just passing on the experience of orhers. BTW, i bought a new OEM shaft rather than go down this route....but then again, my shaft was "gone" so I was not doing it for preventative maintainence.
