Default Dirty wheels?

I will be recieving a 2012 Cayenne S in a few weeks, it will be equipped with the 20" Spyder wheels. My question for you current owners is - how must brake dust should I expect? I am familiar with other Porsches and other German cars so I am expecting heavy brake dust but I didn't know if the Cayenne is different. The Spyder wheel that will be on my vehicle already appears to be a little difficult to clean anyway so maybe you may have some tricks.

The Cayenne will be used primarily by my wife but I know that I will still not want it to be driven around, or be seen in my driveway, with the dirty grey wheels.

Thanks for any information.

If that is a concern you should consider PCCB ...zero dust

PCCBs would be great if you have the money. I don't have that kind of money but I'm really impressed with Sonax wheel cleaner and AmorAll wheel protectant (yes, AmorAll!)...

Also, P21S works well without scrubbing: http://www.p21s.com/products/bis_wc1.html

I've heard good things about the ArmorAll but that brand just worries me. I use Meguiar's Hot Rims Brake Dust Blocker

You mean you don't use ArmorAll on your leather surfaces for that nice, 1980's glossy look?????

My RS Spyder wheels collect brake dust; maybe not quite as bad as on my Carrera but significant. The dark silver finish helps hide it somewhat. I wash frequently, use P21S wheel cleaner, and I don't use any of the dust rejection products. I know people swear by them, but I'm not convinced the extra work applying the stuff and the expense is better than a wash or a quick wipe down with Meguiars Qwik Detailer or similar.

A Cayenne with PCCBs is like an underwear supermodel with a PhD.

I think you will be happy with the Spyders. They have a gray finish that actually hides the dust for a lot longer than a silver finish. I have used the ArmorAll wheel protectant on the wheels, and it does make a difference, but I am too lazy to keep applying it.

Congrats on your new Cayenne S!
