Replacing the 2.1 PCM with Kenwood
I decided to go with the Most HUR 955 interface, Kenwood DNX9990HD . Kenwood Back Up cam CMOS-310, And Sirius Sat Interface.
The Kenwood DNX9990HD which is backordered until early April seems to have it all. Ipod, USB, HD Radio, Bluetooth, Pandora, AHA Radio, Navigation, Steering wheel control, Etc.
I'll do the install myself. It should make for an interesting project. If the MOST HUR 955 installs and works as advertised, it should be easy.

I'll be interested to see how it turns out. I upgraded the system in my 996 to a Kenwood unit and it's great. I'm really happy with it.
I'll be interested to see what happens to the display in the instrument cluster. Will it still display RDS information or information about the track that's playing?

I finally received and installed the Kenwood DNX9990.
I used the NavTV MOST HUR 955 interface.
A lot of wires to hook up but it all went well. Everything works including all steering wheel controls which doesn't need an interface.
The station doesn't display in the gauge cluster but its not a big loss.
The DNX9990 is easy to use and seems a lot faster than other units I've had. Hardly any wait time between screens and selections.

Here's a couple pix.
The cluster is missing only the radio info. All other PCM stuff is there.
Some observations.
The screen is bright enough. It can be seen easily in most lighting conditions. It tilts too if needed.
I 'm going to install the microphone in the blank space above the unit. I didn't notice the blank until after I put the trim piece on. For now its dangling on the right side of the cluster. I'll do it when I install the ebrake bypass for the Bluetooth phone. (see below*)
There was no interface needed for the steering wheel. I didn't expect it to work since I was told by many people it needed an interface. All the buttons work and show on the Kenwood screen as adjustments are made.
The Sirius Satellite works too. I installed the separate interface but didn't change or add a subscription for the new ID number & it doesn't include any promo or demo time. It seems to be running from the OEM satellite hookup which is my old subscription. I may look into this further if it stops working but I can't be bothered now.
The sub woofer powers up and all speakers work without any additional hook ups. I kept the all Bose stuff intact.
The Garmen navigation works while driving. Initially a prompt came on screen asking if you want to turn off the safe mode. I punched yes and it hasn't asked again.
Bluetooth took all of my address book without issues.
*The only think I can't do is dial a direct number while driving, IE use the dial keypad. I have a bypass on the way that is supposed to fix that.
I can still call out while driving by using the address book.
USB is great. I have a 32 GB USB attached and can call it up anytime. The Kenwood remembers the USB when its powered off so it just starts where it left off when restarted. On some systems I've had in the past you had to disconnect the USB drive, reboot, and then reinsert the USB drive. On this Kenwood it works without issues.
I ran the wires for the rear camera, but haven't installed it yet.
Bluetooth also plays music stored on my phone. I don't think it sounds as good as regular radio or satellite.
HD radio works and sounds much better than regular FM. I haven't tried Pandora or AHA yet & don't own an iPod.
Voice command is another thing I haven't tried yet.
It has a remote but its still in the box. That way I won't lose it.
There's also hookups for rear video and of course it plays DVDs, CDs etc.
I'm happy with it so far.
I got the Kenwood from Double D Mods in Wisonsin (608) 568 3011. Dennis is the guy's name. He's an authorized Kenwood dealer.
The 955 Most HUR I got from Autotoys.com
The new dash bezel I got on eBay.
