Oh how I love the steering wheel heater!

When we ordered my wife's 128 Conv. she made sure the Steering wheel heat option was selected.

My 955 is dial-based so it tends to stay in the position I left it; and, I don't know what the lighted button talk is all about. But yes, setting 5 starts to roast the ****.

I think I've left it on 5 for more than 30 seconds only once, ever. Usually starts at 3 on a cold morning, dropped soon to 2 for the rest of the ride. I fully expected the '12s to have full automatic climate control that included core body temp.

Not a Benz fan at all... but the SO's old SLK had a pretty sweet neck blower that puffed warm sweet nothings down your collar. That was way better than a seat heater. Wish there was a steering wheel hand/finger warm-air aspirator.

I'm too lazy to go out to the garage to take a photo, so here's an old one. The two buttons bottom left/right are ventilated & heated seats. They have 3 levels of hot/cold (***/lower back/upper back). You can have all three on (lit up) or just two or just one. Having all three on = too damn hot. Clear? Y/N/M?

Steering wheel heater? I thought I felt the wheel getting warmer. Option code?

On my '08 GTS I rarely use level 5 as, like everyone else is saying, it's just to darn hot. Even level 4 is too hot for me most of the time but I usually start there and turn it down to 2 or 3 in less then 10 minutes. Regarding the heated wheel, I can barely tell when mine is on but I feel it occasionally. I work from home and my GTS sits in a heated garage most of the day (about 60F during winter) so when I do go out the whole car is fairly warm to begin with and it's not often that I go out and leave the car out in the cold to freeze for several hours. As such, my steering wheel heating element gets very little exercise.

This, combined with my OCD & neurosis, has created a dilemma that has been haunting me since I've owned the car (about 3 months). That is, I'd really love to get a nice, FAT, custom steering wheel like the ones DCT MS offers but, even though I use or even acknowledge my steering wheel heater almost never, I still don't want to lose the option. I really wish the guys at DCT MS would help me out and figure out how to make these gorgeous wheels while retaining the heat option! Dilemmas, dilemmas... Life would be so much easier if I wasn't such a motorhead...

On my '08 GTS this is what it says for my option code...

OPTION
PK2
Frnt/Rear Seat Htr inc Str Whl

So in this case, it's bundled with the front & rear heated seats. I know you can get the heated wheel without the rear heated seats as that's what my previous GTS had, but I'm not sure if it was available without front heated seats.

The seat heater is also handy for keeping pizza warm in the passenger seat. Only half kidding.

Below 50 degrees, I put it on 2 for the first few minutes of driving, then turn it off. My wife leaves it on 3 all the time. I prefer a cooler seat.

I can't take anything over 3.

But I have to admit I have used it as a pizza warmer.

Thanks. I'll take a look at ours as our CTT has both front and rear heated seats and I *thought* I felt the wheel get warmer on a cold day (~30s).

Edit: I found it. I must have missed it before. "I2PH Leather steering wheel for airbag system - 3 spokes, heated"

Oh I missed this one too on our list: "I1N3 Servotronic Speed-dependent power-assisted steering"

Good stuff.

I love the heated steering wheel on my 06 CTT... just wished there was a manual on/off switch so that I could use it above 45 degrees (or whatever the preset is)

+1 on the heated steering wheel The highest seat heater setting, however, could be a new form of male birth control
