Default Fueling Issue [Pics for clicks!]

Happy Holidays Everyone!

We have a Jet Green with Espresso/Cognac Interior Cayenne. We love it, it's been a great car. We got it a year ago and have already put on over 15,000 miles on it. I am very impressed how the interior color is holding up, we were concerned that it would get soiled extremely quickly as it gets driven to the barn fairly often.

So anyways, here's our irritating problem. Upon refueling our Cayenne the nozzle constantly clicks off and makes it extremely hard to get a full tank of gas. Tried it today and it did better then usual and I went to get back in the car and realized that I only had 3/4 of a tank. This has been persistent, we've had station attendants attempt to hold the nozzle upside down and all sorts of things. I feel that there is a problem with the venting system in the tank, it makes a sort of sucking sound when you pull the nozzle out. We've called our dealer and brought it in to them and they have been very reluctant to take on the issue, they told us that they would have to drop the tank out of the car to look at it. Needless to say they don't seem to want to do it and have never called us back. Has anyone had this happen? What'd you do to fix it?

PICS!

Thanks!

Sorry to be no help, but this has never happened to us in 15,000 km in our 3 months of driving.
Is it the same gas station every time? I have noticed the Esso pumps kick off earlier than the Shell pumps.

Engine and Ignition always off. I believe it is illegal here in NC to refuel your car with the engine running...

Good to hear it's not happening to everyone! This happens at almost every gas station regardless of brand. Some seem to be slightly better then others. We stopped at a Citgo today and got further then usual, sometimes it will click off at least every .5 gallons (aggravating when the tank is 22 gallons!)

If it were me I'd insist that the dealer fix the problem, even if they have to pull the tank. Frankly, I'm a bit surprised they're being reluctant - they still get paid for the job even though it's covered. That issue is just plain inexcusable for a car of this caliber and age...

Sorry I only saw this post now. I had the same issue and the dealer reprogrammed some setting in the computer, I don't have the work order near me but I can certainly look into it more

BTW - I suspect green is one of those love it or hate it colors. Personally, I absolutely love it - especially with that interior!

Sorry it's taken me a while to respond. The car did indeed go back to the dealer and strangely enough they seem to have done the exact same thing that was done to yours. They reprogrammed some sort of computer. I'm very skeptical and we have yet to be completely satisfied with our dealer's service. I did just fill it up and it worked fine, if it happens again it's going straight back. Also FYI we have now just crossed 17,000 miles!

Good luck and happy trails
Never had that problem with my CT
However,it happened a few times with my 911's
What worked for me was to insert nozzle upside down

Just a quick update. I haven't been on these forums in a while. Our dealer ended up dropping the fuel tank and replacing the whole thing and filling system. This seems to have solved our problem, it came back after the programming. We are now at 33,000 miles! Sadly this has not been the only issue though. Failing waterpump, faulty injectors, etc...
