Default How to Change Front Rotors on 2008 Cayenne

Does anyone have a good site or can provide detail on how to change both the front pads and rotors on 2008 Cayenne. Also, can the Rotors be cut or doe they need to be replaced. I heard differing views on same. Thanks

I think they need to be replaced like every other pad. Check and see if they are within specs.

Porsche recommends changing the rotors every time you change the pads. No surprise there. My first pad change was at about 40,000 miles, and my rotors still measured well within spec at that time. I only changed my pads and sensors the first time. I had the rotors and pads changed at about 80,000 miles.

I believe there's a detailed DIY on this site with photos. Search and you should find it.

The front rotors are 34 mm thick when new and the minimum thickness allowed is 32 mm. The pads are 9.5 mm new, and 2 mm minimum (if you change them at about 3 mm then you won't have to get new sensors). My 2008 S had 88 K miles and is on its 2nd set of pads an rotors. I measured them both 2 weeks ago; 32.8 mm rotors and 4.5 mm pads. I bought new pads and rotors for this winter's DIY. Here is some help:

My rotors came in just above specification when the light came on at about 40k -- I ordered new rotors/ pads and easily could have gone out to 50k before the pads hit the rotors --- the sensors go off too early IMO. I did not want to play around with the rotors being that close.

You will have to measure them - I use mine in hilly areas so the rotors take a hit.

Search is your friend....

But, no you can't cut the rotors and quite frankly I see no reason why you would want to.

Aftermarket Rotors for the cayenne are so cheap you would consider skimming them in preference to replacing them.
