VW Parts interchangeabilty?
I took apart my center console yesterday and looked in it to see nothing but VW parts.
So has anyone gone to VW and purchased VW parts for you Porsche?

That's not surprising considering the fact that our Cayennes are manufactured and assembled in the VW plant in Bratislava,Slovakia. While the Touaregs continue along the assembly line to be fitted with its drivetrain, the finished Cayenne body is forklifted onto a train and shipped to Leipzig,Germany for final assembly.
Even though the Cayenne components are assembled within a VW environment, the Cayenne center dash & console are unique to that model as opposed to that of the Touareg. There may exist a common component such as a stamped steel support bracket or other common items that are shared between the two companies however most similarities stop there.
Porsche has recently been very adamant about the absence of VW part numbers on any shared component for obvious reasons. With the exception of the 914 and 924,944 models which commonly shared numerous components with VW and did actually possess VW part numbers, this is really a thing of the past.
If the component itself has Porsche's familiar ''P'' within an inverted triangle, this part along with a prefix "955", "957" or "958" to the part number will mean that the part in question was in fact manufactured exclusively for PAG.

I was thinking more like brakes, brake sensors, bolts, things like that. I was just browsing the Touareg forums and the brakes look identical besides the Porsche branded on the outside of the caliper. Same tools too to remove.

The ignition switch on my Boxster was an Audi part. I replaced it a year ago since my key would get stuck and I had trouble getting it out. The Porsche dealer wanted close to $60 for it while the Audi part was listed for $30 online. The dealer agreed to give me the same part for $38.

Until they start putting VW part # in official documents (like in a TSB for example) I will say that this is just a rumor.

I know the Air pump is the same as on the Toureg. Turbo for sure and most likely 'S' brakes are specific to Porsche but there is probably more VW in our Cayenne's than we would like to admit.

there are loads of completely identical parts, except for the obvious (bodywork, interior, engine, turbo brakes etc.) and the only difference is packing (vw/audi or porsche lettering on the box)
I just purchased lots of stuff (brakes, various filters etc.) for my 90k mile service and most of the parts had also some kind of VW/audi number on them.

Non-MOST radios use VW connectors.
