Suspect the "replace the bolts" requirement was put in there by the lawyers (or the accountants), not the engineers.

+1 on the more miles = longer battery life. My 2006 Turbo S is at 73000 and will be changing the battery for the 1st time this weekend. It is still OK, but am not taking any chances of being stranded.
