Sorry to bump a year-old thread, but it's better than getting the dreaded "Do a f$%$ing search" comments...

Anyway - I have a little one now (9mos old) and I need a bigger car than my Golf R and my wife's TDI A3 to cart her around. I've considered a nicely-option Cayenne Diesel ($80K-ish) or an Audi S6 (also $80K-ish), but I've been a big fan of the last-gen Cayenne GTS so I did a little searching. I can get a very nice, low-mileage (20K range) GTS for $60K or so.

That seems like a heck of a deal for a CPO GTS when the MSRPs were around $100K. Are there any scary things to look out for? After scouring here and the ol' reliable interwebs, there doesn't seem to be many negatives other than running costs (pads, gas, etc.). Am I on the right track here or should I spend the extra $20K on a new car (Diesel or S6)? The only difference is that I would buy the CPO GTS and I would lease either the Diesel or the S6.

Thanks in advance!

How's the plastic coolant pipes on V8? I've heard 4.8L V8 engines don't have metal replacement parts.

The newer models have plastic pipes as well but made with a different formula. There as not been any where near the reported leaks as on the earlier models....GR

@jes999
How does the 06 ride compare with the 09 with air suspension? Smoother, more comfortable?
Thanks,
Ed

So I guess I shouldn't worry about an '09-'10 GTS? It seems to be a pretty good "bang for the buck" ride...

The '09 with the air suspension and the 21" rims rides much better than the '06 with the steel suspension and 18" or 19" rims. '09 has a much more "controlled" feeling. There seems to be only a little difference between the "normal" and "comfort" settings on the suspension. "Comfort” has a little softer rebound and you get a little bit of a float over high speed bumps in the road. In “Sport” setting everything is pretty tight but not harsh except on very bad roads. Overall, I was very concerned about how the GTS would ride with the 21” wheels because I felt that the ’06 Cayenne S with the steel suspension and the 19” wheels was about as “harsh” as I wanted to handle. One test drive in a GTS was enough to overcome that concern. PM me if you want to discuss in more detail.

Without question. Couple notes:
1. If you find one with PDCC you'll be even happier as it's an appreciable difference.
2. The exhaust note in sport mode is intoxicating. I put it in sport and then soften the suspension around town so I can hear the exhaust more.
3. Found my 09 w/ 16K, PDCC, Bose, light comfort, moonroof, heated rear seats and trailer hitch for a little under 60K earlier this year.

Thanks for the info. I found another one - no PDCC, but full leather, etc., 2009, tiptronic, with all the other bells/whistles for $46.5K. I might move on it...

I test-drove one back in '09, and I fell in love. At the time, I had just bought an '09 C4S, so another $100K+ car/truck was not in the cards.

Get PDCC you'll be glad you did.

I picked up my 08 w/ 18k miles for under 50K - with a set of snow tires/ wheels. When I was looking in April/ May, most GTSs were listed for high 50s to 60s.
I'm looking to change the shift **** on my manual Cayenne and came across this old thread. I love how time and perspectives change. This article has a lot to say about the manual Cayenne collectibility.

Please update us on the **** change. I recall another forum member (Rossi) who attempted this without success.
