Default 06 S to 09 GTS

I am looking at selling my 2006 Cayenne S (52K miles) and replacing it with a 2009 Cayenne GTS (25K miles). Anything in particular to look for on the 09 GTS? I am familiar with the known problems on the earlier Cayennes(i.e. Cardon shaft, Coolant pipes, suspension bushings, etc.) but am not sure what the hot buttons are for the newer iteration.

Thanks.

You'll love it! Just steer clear of the manual tranny as it'll get on your nerves after a while.

2010 GTS - only problem so far with 23k miles is a stuck ashtray. I love that car!

Hey Frank, you're still around! Didn't see you report back in on the hurricane thread and wondered how you made out with it. Guess everything is OK?

Make sure it has the PCM upgrade and the new HPFP - campaign. I also had the spring replaced on the e-brake handle and new servos(? - memory) in the transfer case when it got cranky shifting out of low-range. Otherwise, it is an awesome vehicle, just take Andy's advice and pass on the manual. I love manuals, but Porsche really failed in the execution of a great idea with the manual GTS.

Thanks for the response. Is there a TSB on the PCM upgrade? Also, what is the HPFP campaign?

Slight hijack:

Thanks for asking! We did fine and experienced no flooding even though our house is at around sea level elevation since we have a big dune right in front of it. We moved into our new house north of NYC yesterday and other than power (which is now on) and AT&T cell coverage everything was fine. Lots of flooding and power outages in up here. Some places look like a war zone. We got lucky.

On the GTS, some dealers will try to convince you that the 6-speeds commands a premium due to "rarity". Some of the 6-speeds I looked at a year ago are still on the market today - go figure.

I love being engaged with the vehicle and my wife and I have no issues with our '08. Had it for almost 3 months and just finished a road trip to from California to Idaho, Colorado, Utah and back. Not clear on what's not to like about the manual, and as an added bonus I think they are discounted vs automatics.

There is no TSB on the PCM 3.0 however, there is a software upgrade v1.47 which addresses certain minor issues with the telephone interface and other features.

Yes, what's the issue with the 6 speed manuals? How much of a discount do you think a manual would/should have? I am thinking of getting an 08 or 09 GTS and have test driven both the manual and tip and found the manual to be much more fun to drive....although I no longer have a long commute so that obviously plays into my feelings. Any advice would be appreciated as I am getting close to buying one. Thanks!

There is no issue with the 6 speeds other than comfort. I drove one and I liked it, however I prefer the Tiptronic for stop/go driving. Not sure about the discount.

Have to say the best thing about the GTS is the 6 spd, its not perfect it does not shift like a 911, but your in control. These days its hard to find cars that both fits a car-seat and a has a manual.

Now I did shorting the throw an lowered the **** to improve hand positioning, but again that just a personal choice.

If you like to shift the GTS 6spd is the best cayenne option.

I think most potential buyers of the GTS don't want a 6 spd - not a sports car, so they sit on the lot longer and thus get discounted further. They are indeed rare, but w/o demand there's no premium.

I picked up my 08 w/ 18k miles for under 50K - with a set of snow tires/ wheels. When I was looking in April/ May, most GTSs were listed for high 50s to 60s.

never seen a marine blue on full leather - the full leather is so nice in these things given the rather large swath of front console etc.

park assit - i wish i had that option.

these GTS' are a hoot to drive so enjoy!
