Yes, it is a V-6, but I was easily able to pass everything I wanted to .
with air conditioner on too!

Just found out how to reset the mpg showing on my dashboard! "Hold the reset button for more than 2 seconds." ... I will update you on my mpg in the coming week.

Also, I put fuel cleaner in the gas tank and Duralube in my crankcase.

You should post this in the "Cool Things You Didn't Know About Your Cayenne" thread

I'm getting about 10 mpg right now with 93 octane driving like a damn grandma on my 2004 CT.
The car is new to me, so I'm starting to tear stuff apart to figure out the problem. I at least want to see 13mpg in town...

Mine drive is about 40% city & 60% highway but I usually do hit 80~100mph on the way home with a few spirited full throttle passes now & then when a passing lane opens up.
P.S. A '06 CTTS with the only mod being primary Cat bypasses & 55K miles.
I have no clue about the fuel pump arrangement on the Cayenne other than know it's inside the tank but in the earlier days of in tank fuel pumps the fuel in the tank is used to cool the pump itself. Back then they recommended NOT running the tank that low unless absolutely necessary due to the additional wear it puts on the pump.

Personally I rarely let my cars get below 1/4 tank before I fill up (even though the fuel pump on the 993 is below the tank I treat it the same). Suggest the next time one of us is in the dealer we should ask them about this. I suspect replacing a fuel pump on the Pepper is not a cheap or easy repair, I don't want to shorten it's life if I don't have too.

Thsung, did you figure out why you had so high fuel consumption? I have the same 2004 3,2L and is also experiensing low MPG. My MFD display shows 11L/100km (low consumption) but real consumption is higher.

I need to test the physical way by looking at fuel pump when filling gas and compare with driving distance.

My 04 CS has 125K miles on it. I've had it for the last 5K miles. Dash shows 12.5 mpg, 25 avg mph, and light comes on at 70 miles to empty. Been the same since I got it. Work from home so driving is short trips around town.

Have thought about resetting the mileage and shutting the engine off at stop lights, and waiting at drive thrus to see if it makes any difference.

I'd reset the mpg to see what you are doing on it. When I got mine it was a 13.0 and it was mainly driven in town. I reset it, and figured out pretty quick I was getting 14.9 with a little highway mixed in. I am at 125k also and overdue for the 120k plugs/tune up.

Is it normal for a 26.4 gallon Cayenne to have the low gas light come on with 6 gallons left in the tank? Manual states 3 gallons remaining when the light comes on, but I've been filling up the tank to full with only 19 to 20 gallons every time the light comes on.

I'm guessing one of the fuel reading sensors are bad. Is this located where the pumps are?

I average 13-14 mpg in the urban driving. '04 CS. What else would one expect from a 2 1/2 vehicle with a v8 NA engine?

I just discovered on my 04 CTT that if click the "trip" button on the PCM, it gives you stats of your current outing in real time and the most accurate gas mileage read for that trip/may be a setting for immediate or continuous. My ride to work is 12 miles on freeway and average about 14.2mpg for that trip.

On overall average, which shows up on dash, I'm getting about 11.4mpg and 25mph avg on a 955 CTT with 120,000 miles that's been vivid racing flash tuned for an extra 50hp. I'm not light on the pedal.

Try the trip button and see what learn...

My -08 CTT goes around 400km (~250miles) on one tank with my current 100% city driving regime. In the city I live in you're lucky if you get to drive a full minute between stoplights. Average consumptions shows around ~23L/100km (12mpg) on the computer. Bought around 400 litres (106gallons) of fuel in the month of January.
