Wow! 580 RPM, that's low. I would have expected around 750 - 800 RPM.

General rule of thumb: More cylinders = lower idle speed since the power pulses come more often at any given RPM.

Thank you 911SLOW. I've been driving my 993 all summer which idles at 900 rpm. When I got back into my Cayenne I was concerned at the (seemingly) low rpm of 584 rpm. I can now stop worrying.
