Default Brake Boost Failure Warning Light

04 Turbo. Just filled it up at the gas station (big surprise, I know) and this warning light popped up. Brakes feel fine. Did some research and found things from a $3500 repair to a bad battery to a broken vacuum hose.

Any suggestions. I am out of warranty, so screwdriver in hand!

Had the same problem about a month ago. Found 3 lines cracked and 1 broken rubber elbow. Be sure to look at the rubber elbow on the booster pump under the passenger side engine cover next to the windshild washer filler tube. This is a very common failure point/part.

^+1 on the rubber elbow.
You may also hear the brake booster vacuum pump running trying to achieve the required vacuum if the leak is present.

OP: A screwdriver won't work; Pure vodka is what you need.

As Peter Sutcliffe once said "Screwdriver? You'll have a hammer like all the rest!"

Well Played, E-WMN!

Yep, found a vacuum leak, right at the elbow. Actually the piece is broken in half. How long can I drive like this? Dealer told me a week to get the part.

Took the turbo-pig into the dealer to get this fixed as I needed an oil change and suspect another bad coil (rough idle when cold). Will post repair and cost.
