Default 04CTT a tad hard to start......new battery too!

My 04 is getting a bit difficult to cold start, even with a brand new battery! What should I be on the lookout for? I'm going to monitor it over a couple of days but initially with the new battery it was PERFECT.

Do Cayennes have a longish firing procedure before ignition? Never had a Cayenne before.....

Both of mine, turn key, engine starts - I don't notice any sign of cranking.

I'll shoot a video today and post it after work. It definitely does not fire right up. Takes 2-3 secs or so.

If it's cranking strongly - chances are good you're experiencing a fuel pressure problem. Mine had a long crank problem. After a week at the Porsche hospital (where I took it after determining that pressure dropped immediately after shutting down the engine) it had new fuel pumps, new pressure regulator, and what fixed it - a new fuel filter. There is apparently a check valve of some sort in the fuel filter that had failed, allowing the pressure in the fuel rail to bleed off back into the tank as soon as the pumps shut off.

I just want to get some data points for as many of you guys as possible with Cayennes. This is my first so I have no idea how they should start up.

it's a V8, it needs more cylinders to fire up than a 4 banger during start... sounds completely normal to me.

The Porsche service department would love to have customers like you.

That particular engine start sequence appeared normal.

Does it take longer than that to start on other days or did it start slower before the battery change?

I think it does take a hair longer some days, like this AM.

I'm going to pull some plugs and coils though just to check..unless that isn't helpful.
