Default Burmester or Bose

For those who have listened to both, is the difference between a Burmester and a Bose sound system worth it.
Thanks for your help.

A moving vehicle with at least 70+ db of ambient noise makes a lousy listening room. Even as an audiophile, I just couldn't see spending an extra 4 grand over the Bose for a system whose benefits can best be appreciated while sitting still (something that goes counter to the point of an automobile.) Just my opinion. If you have money to burn, the Burmester is a beautiful piece of work.

I am going to go out on a limb here and suggest that there is no one better qualified to comment on this decision than Larry ....

Burmeister.

End of topic, you can close this thread now.

Larry? Was that really you??? So the Burmeister is what's able to pull you out from the depths of Mordor?

Yes, that was in fact Larry, posting from beyond the Cayenne graveyard.

Well, when you stop and think about it, who could possibly be better qualified to comment on this topic than the person (corpse) who actually designed it?

(P.S. your esteemed forum Moderator, Sir Mudman2, IIRC actually has a framed picture from Larry of the entire system in a Cayenne ; I remember sending it to him as it was Larry's will to do so)

I still have some fond memories ... PCNA Legal wasn't able to find and destroy all of them.

I've heard both and have the Bose in my '11. It sounds really great to my ear and is plenty good enough given the price difference.

The Burmester system is an extra $4K. How much more does the additional "i" in the Burmeister system cost you? Larry, class, anyone?

I don't have it and I'm ok without it. And I love nothing more than to blast music out of my P!G 24/7. But if Larry says it's a Burmeister or Shmurmeister for that matter, then it is so

agreed. from all the post I've read about Bose, Becker, Burmeister, etc... if Larry says it's worth it... and you can swing it, then get it!

The person who would buy a Burmeister is one who knows of the company or cares about audio ... Same as the person who would prefer PCCB vs. steel brakes.

Both are functional and more than adequate, but it is personal preference.

Please also keep in mind that audio infotainment options are the second highest gross margin option in a new car purchase, right behind #1 power and drive train options.

You wouldn't believe what a Porsche configured Bose system costs vs the selling price. That's why car companies all love and offer name branded audio.

Larry knew, but he took that to his grave
