Sport Exhaust or After-Market?

Sport Exhaust or After-Market?
I'm about to place an order for a 2012 Cayenne S, but need some advice about the Porsche Sport Exhaust. I suspect there has to be an after-market solution cheaper than the $3K Porsche is asking. Sure, you won't be able to turn the after-market exhaust on/off, but if it isn't too loud and doesn't drone, that's fine with me.

I would expect that after purchase and installation for an after market system you will be in the 3k range.
check sharkwerks and fabspeed for prices.

Yeah. I've come to the same conclusion. I just didn't want to spend $3K and then find out that there's a $100 hack or $500 bypass that sounded as good as the PSE. Based on the results of searches I've done here, only 1 person seems to have PSE. When I ordered my '09 Carrera S, PSE availability had been delayed a few months, so I wasn't able to get it. Then, I couldn't justify spending the $3K (to the wife) after the car arrived.

Hey erenyes, nothing yet but I am working to get one in here so we can design something. If anyone is in the local area and interested in some exhaust upgrades, PM me and I will give you more details on the discount and process.

I opted not to get the Sports Exhaust on my Cayenne and I'm regretting it. Like Dr99, I will always check that box for any future P-cars. I looked around but I couldn't find an after market sound that I liked that you could also turn on/off like the PSE.

+1 I have PSE on my Carrera S but didn't think I needed it with the V8 on my '11 Cayenne S so I didn't order it. A mistake; the exhaust was too quiet. After listening to other options that were wrong for various reasons, I added PSE. Not inexpensive, even with a discount, but perfect sound and look for the car and the on/off feature is a plus.

That's a good point, and one I didn't recognize until you said it. I turn it on and off to fit my mood. Sometimes after a long day at work, subtle is good...but if I hit an on-ramp and I give her business...she sounds sweet after 4k rpm! Best of both worlds.

I will second the advice of going with the secondary cat delete. It is by far the least expensive, easiest to install/remove option. You will get a great sound improvement that will not be overbearing.
If you are dead set on an exhaust, then I would go for the PSE. The ability to turn it on/off is worth it's weight in gold, trust me.
