Wow, this is an old thread. I thought I would add my experience. I have a stick and have to depress the clutch. I discovered that if I turn the key first, but forget to depress the clutch, it will not start if I depress it while the key is turned. I have to be very specific to depress the clutch first.
As we get use to starting our cars, are we sure we are not pushing the brake and turning the key at the same time? I was thinking it could be a race condition to performing the actions. If you are very specific, making sure the brake is depressed first, does it happen?
I agree that it could be a battery in the Fob, worth trying. I also agree it could be that it could help by putting in the key, give it a few seconds while you get your belt on, then start. But all that time defeats the purpose of putting the key on a Porsche on the left side....
I find myself putting the key in, setting the radio, adjusting the belt and stuff before I attempt to start the car. I really like the "make out" button "REST" that allows you to shut the car off and run the fan to keep the interior warm, all while the key is in the ignition.

I notice I am always pressing the foot brake first before turning the key. Maybe Im not giving transponder or the car enough time to read each other? Or you suggesting the turning key and press brake pedal simultaneously?

old thread I know, but I also have same problem, only owned car for 1 wk, but on purchase I wasnt happy with the starting, so I purchased a new battery with 110 amps, nice high power, but i still find its doing the old wont start on 1st crank, but fires up fine on 2nd crank.. so tonight i have disconnected the battery for a few hrs to try to 'reset'the ecu system to see if it all works.. will update shortly when i recconect battery.

I was suggesting that you just make sure the key is in, then push on the brake, then start the car. sometimes when I try to do it all in one motion, the order is not correct.
Next to that, find a way to disable the safety feature on the car. I wouldn't know how to do that.

Oh, I get it now, the car actually starts and to turn over, and stops. Thats strange. It must all be in the electronics and control sensors. I sure would like to know what you find, even if you have to get dealer advice.

Try doing a battery reset, (this proceure is for a singlebattery car only) in front of the drivers seat there is small plastic cover on the floor, pull up this cover. there will be a 13mm nut holding down a ground cable remove this nut and lift the cable. Now get a pair of jumper cables and grab on to the ground stud make sure you are not touching the cable in anyway. Now pop the hood and uncover the red covered jump start point + . Now make sure you are not touching that ground cable, you are just hooked to the stud the able is all byitself not toching anything. touch the other end of your jumper cable to the + you may get a small spark the first touch but should be no spark after that. If it sparks again you have a dual battery car stop now. If it does not spark clamp the cable to the + point and go get a drink.
It really only needs 30 seconds to clear every thing.
Remove your jumper cable and attach the ground cable Your faults will be cleared if they are no longer present.

From reading the posts it seems as a lot owners have the same problem. We all can't be not starting the car correctly??
